CHAPTER 29

  Olivia's POV

Christopher pulled up to what could only be described as a modern-day palace. The afternoon sun glinted off the massive windows, making the whole place shimmer like a mirage.

"Holy crap," I muttered under my breath. "Is this where you live?"

"One of my homes, yes. Do you like it?"

"Like it? It's... it's..." I struggled to find the right words. "It's ridiculous. In the best possible way."

A burly security guard stepped out of a small booth as we approached the gate. He nodded at Christopher and pressed a button, causing the massive iron gates to swing open.

Christopher guided the car smoothly up the winding driveway, stopping in front of the main entrance. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the spectacle before me. It was like something out of a movie – which seemed oddly fitting given Christopher's profession.

"So," Christopher said, turning off the engine. "Is your boyfriend okay with you coming to my home like this?"
