  "God, no." I turned to face him. "That's why I agreed when he suggested breaking up. It's just..." I sighed. "I feel bad for him, you know? He was good to me."

  "But not good enough." His fingers traced patterns on my thigh. "Otherwise, you wouldn't have fallen into my lap - quite literally, I might add."

  "You're never going to let me live down that sugar baby mix-up, are you?"

  "Never." He chuckled, his breath warm against my neck. "You know, darling, it's actually quite simple."

  "What is?" I shifted in his lap, trying to ignore how his fingers were drawing lazy circles on my thigh.

  "When you find someone who sets your blood on fire, who makes you question everything you thought you knew about attraction..." His hand slid higher. "Well, let's just say the old relationship was already dead. You just didn't know it yet."

  "That's a convenient way to justify being a homewrecker."
