CHAPTER 21: "Nobody Can Stop Me—It's Legal."

The sound of fabric tearing plunged me into a pit of despair.

"Daniel, have some shame! You disgust me!"

I used all my strength to push him off, but no amount of effort could match his brute force. Right now, Daniel wasn't human—he was a wild beast, enraged and out of control.

"Disgusting? Me? And you're clean? If you were so clean, what are you doing here, fishing for men in a place like this?"

His bloodshot eyes glared at me with a manic intensity, his iron grip bruising my arms as I struggled in vain.

  "Let me go, Daniel!"

He sneered, his twisted smile both mocking and deranged. "Go ahead, scream all you want. Nobody's going to stop me. It's legal."

He was right. Legally, I was still his wife.

The absurdity and tragedy of that fact twisted my heart. This man, who I had once loved, was now the greatest stain on my life. If I could go back in time, I'd choose to never meet him.
