Just when I was at my most humiliated, Frank appeared.
His face was cold, his brows furrowed with anger. It was clear he had seen the explosive Twitter post.
"Dr. Ward, what can I do for you?"
The HR director's tone shifted instantly, her face lighting up with a smile that contrasted starkly with how she had treated me moments earlier.
Frank glanced at me before turning his gaze to the computer screen. He pointed at the photo.
"That man is me."
The director froze, staring at Frank, then back at me in disbelief.
Frank's gesture, though well-intentioned, only made me feel more mortified.
"What nonsense are you spouting?" I hissed, pushing him toward the door.
As I left, I turned back to the director, who still hadn't recovered from her shock.
"Don't worry. I'll leave."
I shut the door behind us and looked at Frank.
"One person being disgraced is enough. Do you really want to ruin your reputation too?"
