CHAPTER 38 A Little Compensation

Daniel, Chloe, and the two sales assistants all turned to look at us.

I hadn't planned on causing a scene, especially not in public. Chloe might not care about saving face, but I did. However, the venomous look Chloe shot me made it clear that avoiding conflict was impossible.

The sales assistant, sensing Lucas's intent, immediately plastered on a professional smile.

"You have excellent taste, sir. This dress would look stunning on your wife—it complements her figure perfectly. Would you like to try it on?"

Before I could respond, Chloe snatched the dress out of the assistant's hands, her face flushed with fury.

"No! I saw this dress first!"

The assistant hesitated, clearly caught in an awkward position. She gave me an apologetic smile before turning back to Chloe.

"Ma'am, sir, the dress is ¥38,000. You may pay at the counter."
