CHAPTER 86 A Heart Built on Suppression

Foster glanced at Lucas, then at me, and with a sardonic smile, said, "I don't get it. Is Riley Mr. Reid's woman? If that's the case, Mr. Reid sure is lucky, having the best of both worlds."

His words made me feel incredibly awkward.

I wasn't sure how Lucas would respond.

If he admitted to what Foster implied, then the most embarrassed person would be me. But if he denied it, Foster, who was clearly making advances, would probably not let Riley off the hook.

I quietly grabbed the edge of the tablecloth, staring down at my bowl, feeling a knot of tension in my chest.

"She's my girlfriend!" A voice suddenly broke the silence.

I looked up quickly, and Frank had already stood up, draping his jacket over Riley's shoulders, covering her dress that had become nearly see-through from the spilled liquor.

Foster slowly set his glass down, smiling knowingly.

"Riley may look young, but it seems like she's already taken. Mr. Reid must be very lucky."
