"My baby..."
Jennifer's face was pale with pain, her body curled up, her voice weak as she cried out.
No one in the booth moved. I was frozen in shock, standing there, unable to react.
Natalie stared blankly at Jennifer, who was lying in front of her.
The scene, with one person lying down and the other standing, made it look as though Natalie had been the one to push Jennifer.
Zachary glared at Jennifer on the floor, his face tense with emotion.
"Zachary, help me," Jennifer reached out her hand weakly toward him.
Zachary squatted down, picked Jennifer up, and slowly raised his eyes to look at Natalie. His expression was unreadable.
After all, they had once been together, and I imagined he must still have some lingering care for her.
"Do you think I did it?"
Natalie was eerily calm, an unnerving calmness.
Zachary swallowed hard, his Adam's apple bobbing. "Call an ambulance."
