  "Xander?"

  "What's wrong? Surprised to see me?" Xander folded his arms, leaning back with a smug look on his face as he stared at me.

  Of course, I was surprised. I had no idea he'd been released. Part of me was relieved, knowing that our efforts hadn't gone to waste, but another part of me had a strong feeling that Xander's freedom would only bring trouble for Lucas.

  "Give me my phone."

  I reached for it, but Xander raised his hand and slid it into his pocket, then hopped onto his motorcycle. He revved the engine, and before I could react, we were speeding away.

  I tried to jump off, but the bike accelerated so quickly that I almost fell off the back. I barely managed to grab onto Xander's jacket to avoid falling.

  "Are you crazy?"

  I clung to his jacket, the wind howling against my face. I could barely speak with the force of it.
