Linda stared at me in disbelief, her colored contacts practically bulging out of her eyes.
The arrogance she had just moments ago had completely disappeared, replaced with sheer regret.
But I didn't feel triumphant. If anything, I felt humiliated.
Suddenly, a fair hand reached out and took mine.
I looked up to see Lauren smiling at me warmly.
"I've been waiting for you. What took you so long? Come on, let's go upstairs and get changed."
Lucas gave me a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "Go ahead."
Lauren was highly respected in the beauty and cosmetics industry, admired by many celebrities. First, Lucas had shielded me, and now Lauren was personally pulling me away with such familiarity. Linda stood there dumbfounded, looking like a complete joke.
I knew Lauren always carried her enormous makeup kit with her, but I didn't expect her to have evening gowns in it too.
