CHAPTER 97

  Aria's POV

"How is she feeling that way? What's making her feel that way?"

Jade's voice softened. "This matter with Astrid and Knox is making her feel like she's losing Knox, like she's losing her mate all over again."

  I squeezed my eyes shut.

"Your pregnancy hormones aren't helping either," Jade continued. "Your emotions are all over the place, and it's making Rhea's pain worse. You're hurting, and she's feeling it ten times over, because it's reminding her too much of Liam's rejection caused by a beta's daughter, though this time it's a beta's sister."

Rhea whimpered in pain again, and my heart clenched as I looked down at her, "So she's… reliving it?" I whispered, my throat tight. "The rejection?"

Jade sighed, crossing her arms. "Not exactly. But it feels the same to her. She lost one mate because of a beta's daughter, and now, she thinks she's losing another because of a beta's sister."
