Jason POV
I heard Alan's footsteps approaching, I kept calm. He was like four steps away from me. The shelves covered me up, the light didn't do much justice to illuminate where I stood, just a measure of shadow. It's unlikely for him to see me.
I wasn't scared of Alan, but I'm conscious of him, he works with my mother, and he is one of her favorites, if not her favorite, and he could be as dangerous as my mother.
"The agreement," he retrieved his steps and focused back at David.
I heard the rustling of papers, but I couldn't peek to know what was going on.
"I hope this is the original copy and you didn't keep some for yourself," he said, his tone dripping with threats. I still wonder why my mother mentioned this to us. She hardly opens up, a masterminding who takes care of shit. Why does she want me to know about this when she was going to take care of it?
I heard the door click open, Alan was gone. I came out of my hiding with my hand deep in my pocket.
