"I'm not leaving you here alone," I said, my voice rising with each word. "You're going through enough without me ditching you."
Davis closed his eyes momentarily, a deep sigh escaping his lips. "I know," he said. "But I have to be with my grandmother, and I need to know that you're safe."
I shook my head, my frustration turning to anger.
"I'm only safe when I'm next to you."
"Someone needs to keep an eye on Ollie."
I pointed toward Gerald who sat down quietly at the other end of the room staring at Ollie as he continued pacing around with pain and frustration.
"Gerald is doing that already. "
"Oh fuck!" He muttered under his breath, took out his phone, and called someone, "I need you to go check on my grandmother, I don't think I will make it to the prison. I can't leave my wife alone, yeah. Right." He hung up.
