CHAPTER 15 Midnight Temptation

The night hung heavy in the house, silent except for the occasional creak of the old wooden floors beneath the weight of the wind. Angela lay sprawled on her bed, exhaustion finally pulling her under after a long, tension-filled evening. The glow of the moon filtered through her curtains, casting a soft, silver hue across the room, illuminating the stillness.

She hadn't even changed out of her clothes from the day. The swirling chaos of emotions and forbidden thoughts from earlier began to dissolve as sleep embraced her.

Outside her room, the hallway was dark, shrouded in shadows. Edmund stood silently in the hall, the faint light outlining his tall frame as he lingered in the doorway. His gaze locked on Angela, the peacefulness of her sleep contrasting sharply with the turmoil that stirred inside him. He knew he shouldn't be there, but the pull toward her was undeniable, something he could no longer resist.
