CHAPTER 33

  Aubrey's POV

I sat in my room, gazing into space.

I couldn't shake off the feeling that my grandfather was hiding something. His words echoed in my mind, "You're going to tear this family apart with your stupidity!" The anger in his voice, the desperation in his eyes all pointed to one thing, he was scared.

I decided to confront him again, determined to uncover the truth. I marched downstairs to his study, my heart pounding in anticipation.

"Grandfather, we need to talk," I said, my voice firm.

He looked up from his papers, a hint of annoyance in his eyes. "What is it, Aubrey?"

"I want to know what you're hiding," I said, my eyes locked on his. "What does Alex Billlord's death have to do with our family?"

My grandfather sighed, rubbing his temples. "Aubrey, I've told you before. This is none of your concern."
