Aubrey's POV
At work, I sat at my desk all day. I had my assistants cancel all meetings I had.
My mind kept wandering back to the conversation I had wut my grandfather and I was willing to get to the bottom of the matter even if it meant forcing him to talk.
"For my own sake?" I scoffed.
After dinner, I followed.my grandfather into his study. He didn't stop me, but he ignored me and every questions I asked.
I sat on the comfy sofa feeling frustrated and confused. Why was he being so secretive? What was he hiding?
"Grandfather, please," I said, trying to sound calm. "You can't just tell me to drop it. I need to know what's going on."
My grandfather sighed, his expression softening slightly. "Aubrey, I'm trying to protect you. You don't need to know about this."
"But why?" I asked, feeling a surge of determination. "What's so bad that you can't tell me?"
