Once returned to her home, Lizzie woke up as if from a dream. She turned her head and noticed the time on the clock that sat on her bedside table. 1:30 pm. Blinking, Lizzie ran out of the house, shielding her eyes from the sun. Dammit. Have I been asleep this whole time? Was this thing a dream? She thought.
Her father, a middle-aged man, paused what he was doing and spotted his daughter coming out of their small house. "You're awake finally. When I found you on the street you have a good side bump on your head."
Lizzie gave a small smile. "Sorry, Father. I didn't mean to worry you. I just hit my head quite hard then."
Her father returned the smile. "Well, thank the Gods that you're alright." He set his hoe on the ground and walked over to his daughter. "Are you sure you're ok? You seem a little off."
Lizzie sighed. "Father, I think I had a vision of my mother's temple. There was a group of several women in robes. They referred to mother as the Great Mother and something about finding what my Element was."
"So, your mother has come to you. I had a feeling that this would happen. The choice is yours, Lizzie. Whatever you choose, you will have my full support."
"But, father, you need me here on the farm to help you."
"Lizzie, listen to me very carefully, you have been picked by your mother to fulfill something greater than just being a farmer's daughter. Go. Discover the world outside this quiet village."
Lizzie hugged her father tightly.
A few hours later, Lizzie packed up everything that she owned into a small sack before leaving her home for the final time. She glanced around her room, sighing. This small house was all she had known for the past 13 years. The fact that she was leaving her home to start her own life in the wider world.
Her father was waiting for her when she exited the house after packing. He smiled. "You've grown up so much on this farm, Lizzie. I am so proud of everything that you have accomplished so far."
Lizzie smiled. "Thank you, Father." She hugged for the final time before leaving her home.
