In Ranas, the land of the Awakened, where almost everyone has supernatural powers, Blaze Singer is one of the very few that does not possess any power.

People like him are called trash genes, or trashy for short.

Their genes are so trash that they can't even awaken the weakest F-rank power.

People like these, trashy, are unable to register an ID. They are also prohibited from creating a credit code, which is critical to buying and selling anything in this godforsaken country.

But luckily, Blaze's father is an Awakened. Not a powerful one, but good enough to provide for his family.

Suddenly, he died a mysterious death, and Blaze's mom has no choice but to remarry an Awakened to secure Blaze's future.

But she chose wrong. Blaze's stepfather is an abusive, ignorant loser.

Blaze and his mother have been with him for five long years. They have received nothing but trauma from the unworthy Awakened.

And then, on one fateful day when Blaze is washing dishes. A transparent window pops up.

Inside Adam's office there is an altar with a statue standing on it. The statue is of a black-haired young man wearing a yellow robe.

The god of fissures and opportunity, Cerun-Kha.

Adam kneels down and bows at the statue. Then he takes out an odd piece of paper that is so old it has turned yellow.

He bites his index finger and lets the blood pour out. Adam uses the tip of his index finger like a pen to draw onto the paper.

<O' Lord, give me strength to combat this darkness>

That is what Adam writes on the paper. And then he lights up an incense and sticks it gently into the sand bowl on the altar.

Adam holds the yellow paper on top of the incense, hoping that it will catch on fire.

Logically, there is no way that this paper can be ignited because of the small fire spot around the incense. Adam doesn't even hold the paper still for it to touch the incense.

But that is the only way to ask Cerun-Kha for help.
