Oassio

As this wind was carried through the trees a faint smell of sweetness lingers in the air. My head is pounding after selecting a name. I force myself to stay standing as the wave of nausea hits. The sound of my armor creaks as I shake from the feeling. After a few moments the pain fades as I feel the weight of the metal plates shifting unnaturally on my shoulders. I can feel the muscles working in overdrive to just keep me up right and I realize that this body not my own.

My hands shaking as I bring them into view, the gauntlet's surrounding my hands catching rays of sunlight as I examine them.

This can't be me shit-.

The ground beneath my feet is soft and uneven, the weeds in the grass surrounding the base of these great tall trees. This feels unnatural almost like I'm puppeting another person, my limbs feel stiff and uncooperative, like some of my joints are fused together with rust.

The adrenaline from earlier still lingers in the tips of my fingers, eating away at my nerves.

"Insight" I mutter, hoping that the box could at least help me understand where I am at least.

The blue text appears brightly floating just out in front of me.

The word again corruption. I don't have a idea about what that means but It can't be good. M

Great this doesn't explain jack shit.

"What the hell am i supposed to get from this" I mutter to myself while scratching my head.

The wind rustles the leaves above, casting shifting patterns of light on the ground. My vision sways, and I steady myself with a hand on a gnarled tree trunk.

My head is still buzzing, a thousand thoughts colliding at once. All I know is that I can't afford to stay vulnerable out here. If that explosion from before meant anything, it's that I'm already neck-deep in a shitstorm just being near it.

But this body—no matter how I move, it's sluggish, like I'm dragging an anchor behind me. Even my breathing is louder than it should be. I can't stop noticing how unnatural it feels, how every tiny movement is wrong.

A snap of a branch in the distance makes me freeze. Instinctively, I try to crouch, but my armor scrapes loudly against the tree. I curse under my breath, forcing my body to stay still despite the panic clawing at my ribs.

As the sounds grow closer and closer the distinction of footsteps start to form. I press my back into the tree, trying to not be discovered by this unknown person. I can feel my body screaming in fear trying to get me away but I force it to sit still hoping to lower my presence as much as possible.

A figure emerges from the forest clearing- a young man his ears sharp and pointy, he's not a human. Covered in bloody leather armor he has with him another chained elf this one looking more rough with cuts and bruises. A captured person? no I can't jump to conclusions he got a spear.

Looking down at my side I can see that I also have a sword yet I possess no swordsmanship so it might as well get me killed trying to use it.

The man looking around while walking suddenly stops. Has he noticed me? I wont have much time to make a choice if he rushes me but I still my pose a threat by looks alone.

Suddenly his eyes fixes towards the ground next to my tree and as I look down I can see the boot prints in the dirt pointing towards me shit I didn't even think about that.

"Didn't think any stragglers made it this far away" he groans " You must be one unlucky son of a bitch"

My hands sweating, I have no idea what he's referencing but I won't become a victim that easily. If i can make him believe I'm a threat than maybe I could at least by myself time to think of a better move.

Walking out from the behind the tree I paused glaring at him.

"Ohhhhh a knight its funny to see one of you her so far away from everyone" he smiles "No matter Ill guess ill just take your head any whatever left" he snarls lunging forward.

Before I can make sense of what's happening my body takes over, Rasing my arm, the spear tip connects with my gauntlet before getting stuck. sparks fly as the metals collide against each other. The force behind the spear makes my bones rattle, yet my body didn't collapse. I grit my teeth as I can feel him pushing his weight down.

His face now twisted in frustration, not expecting a physical resistance like this. Using this moment of confusion I clench my left hand before bring it down into his head knocking both of as apart. As he staggers backwards.

"You're a strange one, huh?" he grins again, wiping the steak of blood now rolling down from his head. "You have the strength so why are you using your sword?"

I don't respond, focusing on the feeling of my body removing instinctually before and steading my breathing. No fight is guaranteed I only need to catch him off guard again.

But the I notice something beyond his smile he's shaken by something- his stance is wavering as he points the spear back towards me. He's hurt.

Gripping my gauntlets even harder Its kill or be killed I can't waver.

He rushes me again, this time I let him in even closer than before stepping to the side the tip of the blade grazing my side, slamming my hands down onto his back laying him out on the ground as he grunts in pain. There's a sickening crunch as he hits the ground, and he coughs up blood, and starts to stand up again.

"Lucky-" as he begins to cough I bring my fist down on the back of his head smashing it into the ground.

Weaker this time he rolls onto his back I don't let him recover, I raise my arms up together this time forcing myself to tighten all the muscles in my back.

"Wa-" he spits out as I bring both hands down sending blood splattering all around me.

Panting and falling onto my hands I start to shake I just I just...

Looking at my hands shaking as their covered in blood, before the blue text again appears before me.

I stare at his body, half expecting him to get back up, but he doesn't move. I didn't mean to kill him—I just needed to survive. My hands are trembling again, and I realize the weight of what I've done.

New title Obtained

The blue text chimed before chimes softly

[Path of the Fallen]

"Path of the fallen... huh" I sigh as stand over the mess I've created. "Can't get much lower than this I guess" I say looking at the life I just took.

"ummm-" a soft voice called out as I turned around.
