Chapter 12 : Mirror Image Trickery

The water illusion was full of killing opportunities. Leo and Luna's figures were being pressed step by step by the water-shaped demonic creatures manipulated by the faceless idol, and the water currents around them twisted into a monster with teeth and claws, pouncing on them in a hideous manner. After each chop, the water demonic creature would quickly recover, as if it was immortal.

What was even more disturbing was that the faceless idol changed once again, its stone surface twisting like a flowing liquid, deriving a second face from its single faceless state in just a few breaths. The originally indifferent faceless idol had now turned into a two-faced existence, with two pairs of scarlet eyes staring deathly at Leo and Luna, sending shivers down the spine.

"It's turned into a two-faced idol again!" Luna quickly analyzed the enemy's changes, her mechanical eyes captured the instantaneous changes in the idol's structure and calmly said, "It's strengthening itself, even the water demonic objects have become stronger."

Leo gripped the broken sword in his hand tightly, his gaze was calm and steady, despite the extremely dangerous situation in front of him, he still didn't retreat. The water demonic object surrounded them more and more tightly, even squeezing the two of them together, making it impossible for them to effectively launch an attack.

"It's forcing us to restrict our movements." Leo whispered, "This way, our attack methods are restricted."

However, just as the water demonic object was on the verge of trapping them completely, the idol's body suddenly trembled, and the outline of its second face twisted slightly, as if it was having trouble maintaining its two-sided form. "Go!" Luna shouted lowly, and the mirror image doppelganger quickly merged into the battle, facing the water demonic creature side by side with her.

At the same time, the real Leo silently disappeared into the water mist and quickly circled around to the back of the faceless idol. He gripped his broken sword tightly and adjusted his breathing to lock onto his target's weak point.

Luna took the opportunity to cast fire elemental magic, and a ball of flame suddenly rose up, colliding with the water demonic object and stirring up a large water mist. The thick water mist obscured the faceless idol's field of vision, preventing it from accurately locking onto its target.

It was at this moment that the real Leo seized the moment and rushed towards the back of the faceless idol like a speeding wind, his broken sword glowing with a faint cold light, stabbing straight into the idol's core.

However, the moment the sword blade was about to pierce into the idol, a sudden change occurred - the body of the faceless idol began to alienate once again, blood-red energy surged, the second face appeared once again, and the two-faced idol was reborn!

Leo's attack was blocked by that newborn second face, and the sword blade was actually unable to pierce through the idol's defense!

"Damn it ..." Leo cursed in a low voice and immediately retreated to avoid being counterattacked by the idol's power.

At the same time, due to the influence of the idol's power, Leo's body began to become unstable, and eventually dissipated into light and shadow in the air. The faceless idol once again regained control of the battlefield and once again utilized the water demonic object to force the real Leo and Luna together.

This time, the idol's attack was even more violent, and the water demonic object's attack was even more furious, as if it wanted to completely devour them.

"It's reverted back to its one-sided form!" Luna quickly observed this change, while a bold strategy surfaced in her mind. She whispered to Leo, "Let's gamble again, do you trust me?"

"Of course." Leo didn't hesitate for a second.

The corners of Luna's mouth rose slightly, and a sly glint flashed in her eyes as she quietly cast her magic.

This time, Leo stood on the battlefield and did not take the initiative to attack, but stood quietly beside Luna as if he had already resigned himself to his fate and allowed the water demonic creature to approach. The faceless idol seemed to sense that victory was in sight, and it manipulated the Water Demon to violently launch a fatal strike - a huge Water Demon transformed into a sharp water blade and violently penetrated Leo's chest! But that was only Leo's doppelganger.

The body of the doppelganger trembled violently for a moment, then slowly dissipated into a shadow.

The red eyes of the faceless idol trembled slightly as it seemed to realize that something was wrong, but it was already too late.

"It's now!" Luna shouted violently.

The real Leo appeared behind the faceless idol, and the moment the stealth magic was lifted, he was already gripping the broken sword, ready to strike. Without any hesitation, Leo swung his sword with all his might, and with berserk power, he chopped the broken sword fiercely towards the core of the idol.

"Crack--!"

Accompanied by a crisp cracking sound, cracks appeared in the body of the Faceless God Statue, red light flickered in the cracks, and eventually, the entire statue collapsed and shattered into countless pieces of stone.

In an instant, the entire illusionary realm began to shake violently, the water falling apart like a broken mirror, the space around them collapsing, and violent energy sweeping over everything.

Leo and Luna felt a strong suction force hit them, and their bodies were uncontrollably pulled towards the real world.

When they opened their eyes again, they were already back at the bottom of Luna Lake. The remains of the broken Faceless God Statue was silently sinking at the bottom of the lake, while the energy heart that originally belonged to the statue was beating violently, its color gradually turning from scarlet to dark, and eventually turning into pure energy that was completely drawn by the Void Ring.

The lake gradually subsided, and the surrounding area returned to deathly silence.

Leo and Luna looked at each other and smiled, despite having just experienced a life and death encounter, their hearts had an extra sense of relief from victory.

"Looks like we made it." Luna said softly, with a hint of exhaustion in her voice, but more than anything, she was relieved.

Leo looked at the Void Ring on his hand with a deep gaze. He knew that this battle was only part of the journey, and the real challenge might still be waiting for them further away.
