Chapter 63: Icefire Mortar

Gu Chen was briefly stunned, then smiled and said, "Of course."

Gu Yue Na turned to the little creature in her palm. She gently sliced open her finger, squeezing out a drop of silver blood and fed it to the Nine-Segment Emerald.

The moment the Nine-Segment Emerald drank the Silver Dragon King's blood, it immediately fainted in Gu Yue Na's palm. Its bloodline began to undergo a constant elevation—not only did it become immune to most poisons, it also gained a trace of dragon bloodline.

Gu Yue Na carefully placed the unconscious Nine-Segment Emerald into a pouch at her waist, then continued searching for herbs in the valley with Gu Chen.

Gu Chen did spot a few immortal-grade herbs, but very few were suitable for himself or his companions. In the end, he only collected a few ordinary natural treasures and two or three stalks of immortal herbs.

When the two returned to the hot spring, a serious look appeared in their eyes.

The remains of the Ice Dragon King and Fire Dragon King were located beneath this spring—but how to get down there was a crucial question.

"I'll take you down," Gu Yue Na said, looking at Gu Chen.

Understanding her intent, Gu Chen wrapped his arms around her from behind.

Feeling the strong, masculine energy from behind her, Gu Yue Na's face flushed red. She quickly activated her spatial element control, blinking five times in a row, bringing the two of them into a small hidden space beneath the hot spring.

Calling it a "small space" was a bit of an understatement—"a blessed land" or "hidden paradise" would be more appropriate.

Gu Chen reluctantly let go of Gu Yue Na. The lingering scent of her body remained on his hands, stirring his heart with longing.

When Gu Chen opened his eyes and looked around, he was utterly stunned.

The space was suffused with divine energy of both ice and fire attributes. He hadn't expected that the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings had also perished in the Dragon God War.

In fact, had Gu Chen not fled with Gu Yue Na back then, their fate wouldn't have been much better than the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings'.

The space not only contained divine power of the two dragon kings—it also held their divine consciousness.

"Lord, you've arrived?" The Ice Dragon King, upon seeing Gu Chen and Gu Yue Na descend, eagerly floated toward them.

Gu Chen briefly explained their current situation, as well as his plan.

Since the matter concerned the revival of the beast race, the Ice Dragon King's tone grew solemn. "Lord, if you find any promising individuals among humans, you can bring them here. I'll pass on my secondary divine position as Ice Dragon King to them. Once the successor accepts the inheritance, their subconscious will forever remain loyal to you."

"System, is this inheritance effect similar to the slave seal?" Gu Chen asked inwardly.

Ding!

"The slave seal doesn't make the subject bow and scrape—it makes them dead loyal, never to betray, while retaining their own consciousness. The Ice Dragon King's inheritance works the same way: altering the subject's perception of the host at the subconscious level. And if the subject ever develops dissatisfaction with the host, the seal will automatically adjust their subconscious again, making them feel everything the host does is reasonable."

Gu Chen nodded and said to the Ice Dragon King, "That's acceptable."

"Lord, me too! I'm already dead, might as well pass on my divine position to someone you deem worthy!" the Fire Dragon King's spirit chimed in.

Since that was the case, there was no need for Gu Chen to take their remains away. So he said, "Then let's head out."

"Wait, Lord!" the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings shouted in unison.

Gu Chen looked at their souls in confusion.

"Lord, we wish to transform our remains into a weapon and gift it to you. We hope you will fulfill our dream of uniting the continent under the dragon race," said the Ice Dragon King.

The two dragon kings then manipulated their remains, which rose into the air and began to merge.

A divine weapon began to take form—and two full days passed just like that.

Eventually, a weapon shimmering with icy blue and fiery red hues appeared before Gu Chen. Its shape astonishingly resembled a handheld mortar from his past life!

"Lord, this weapon can launch energy shells containing ice and fire attributes. The shells can travel up to a kilometer and explode with a blast radius of several dozen meters. It only requires injection of soul power or divine energy to use," the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings explained, their spiritual forms flickering and growing weak as they handed the mortar-shaped weapon to Gu Chen.

Gu Chen grasped the weapon—it was made from the bones of the two dragon kings and had reached the level of a quasi-divine artifact!

"Thank you! If there's anything you need in the future, I will not hesitate, even if it costs me my life!" Gu Chen declared solemnly.

"Absolutely not, Lord! You are the beast race's overlord—how can we let you say such things?" the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings quickly responded.

The Fire Dragon King added, "Right, Lord, please give this divine weapon a name."

Gu Chen thought for a moment and said, "Let's call it Icefire Mortar!"

The Ice Dragon King eagerly flattered, "As expected of our Lord—what a perfect name!"

"All right, Na'er, let's go," Gu Chen said to Gu Yue Na, who had remained quiet by his side.

Gu Yue Na gently nodded and took Gu Chen's arm.

"Lord, may you succeed in your mission!"

With the blessing of the two dragon kings, Gu Chen and Gu Yue Na turned into a streak of silver light. After a few blinks, they reappeared at the hot spring's surface.

Because the bones of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings had been taken and turned into a weapon, the energy maintaining the Icefire Yin Yang Well had been reduced to nearly nothing. In just a few decades, it would degrade into an ordinary hot spring.

Altogether, they had spent six days here.

One day entering the spring, one and a half days for Gu Yue Na's body refinement, one day for Gu Chen to search for herbs, and two days for the creation of the weapon.

"It's time to leave. Qianjun Douluo and Jiangmo Douluo are still stalling Dugu Bo," Gu Chen said, embracing Gu Yue Na again and taking advantage of the moment.

Gu Yue Na rolled her eyes at him and once again activated her spatial mastery. The two passed through the poison array and emerged outside the valley.

It took them a little over a day to exit Sunset Forest. After reuniting with the Spirit Hall guards outside, Qianjun and Jiangmo Douluo also returned, having released Dugu Bo.

As it turned out, Qianjun and Jiangmo Douluo hadn't done anything to Dugu Bo—they simply took him to a tavern and drank with him for seven days and nights. But with their Title Douluo cultivation, processing alcohol was effortless.

"How'd it go?" Qianjun Douluo asked.

"Excellent. Thanks to the resources in the treasure land, Na'er broke through three levels and is now at rank 48. I broke through two levels—now rank 47," Gu Chen replied.

"What?! What kind of treasures does that old Dugu Bo have hidden in there, to let you guys break through like that? Hah, that old poison man's going to be crying over it for a long time," Jiangmo Douluo exclaimed in shock.

Meanwhile, Dugu Bo had returned to his lair. When he entered the valley and saw his herb garden had been nearly cleaned out—leaving fewer than ten immortal herbs—he broke down, crying bitterly, pounding his chest as his wails echoed across the valley:"You damn little thieves! I will never share the same sky with you!"
