Chapter 3

I began packing up my belongings. Looking at all the priceless gifts, jewelry, and real estate Levi had bought me over the years, I apathetically tossed them aside, instructing someone to come and clear everything away.

Tainted things don't deserve to be taken with me.

But even more, I didn't want to stay in this house.

The thought of unworthy hands touching these items again made me feel nauseous, even from thousands of miles away.

So I only took the things I had bought myself. It wasn't much - just enough to fill a small suitcase. Most of it was company assets, which fit on a tiny USB drive.

I made some calls and started dealing with the company assets.

There was so much to handle in this area, and I wasn't fully recovered yet. The work quickly exhausted me, and before long I collapsed weakly to the side.

That's when Levi called:

"Stella, Weiwei needs someone. Come over here."

Even though my whole body was burning up and my mind was foggy, hearing Levi's words still inevitably made my nose sting with emotion. In a hoarse voice, I said to Levi:

"Levi, I'm still sick. I have a high fever."

"I know, but what's happening with Weiwei is more important. If you don't come, everything will be ruined."I hesitated for a moment, but ultimately agreed.

There was no other reason.

During these ten years with Levi, he had also been attentive to me at times.

I still remember when I was just starting my business and faced sexual harassment, it was him who stepped up. After chasing the perpetrator away, he worked tirelessly, using every method possible to help me secure that crucial deal.

This provided me with the initial capital, allowing me to carve out a remarkable achievement in this field from then on.

So before I leave, I don't want to owe Levi anything.

By helping him this last time, we can consider ourselves even from now on.

When I finally mustered the strength to stand outside the private room, the laughter from inside almost made me faint:

"Is Stella coming soon? As expected, with just a word from you, Levi, she'd come crawling no matter how far."

Levi laughed, "I have to drive Weiwei home later so I can't drink, and Weiwei certainly can't either. I'd be heartbroken if she drank. I had no choice but to call Stella. Otherwise, wouldn't it be such a buzzkill to have her here for this kind of occasion?"

Everyone chuckled in agreement.

Standing outside the door, I felt waves of dizziness wash over me. I had to lean against the wall to keep myself from collapsing.Even though I had mentally prepared myself, at this moment, the pain in my heart still cut to the bone.

I looked sadly at the tightly closed door of the private room, desperately wanting to burst in and ask him:

Levi, what exactly am I, Stella, to you? Just some plaything you can summon and dismiss at will?

Are you willing to drag me into this just to please Evelina?

But before I could ask, the door to the private room opened.

Levi came out, and the moment he saw me, his face changed. He anxiously supported my unsteady body, his voice trembling:

"Stella! What's wrong? You're burning up!"

I stubbornly pushed him away:

"The car ride here was too rough. I'm just a little carsick, that's all."

Amidst the surrounding snickers, I caught a few mocking remarks:

"I've never seen a woman as pathetic as Stella. When Levi calls her, she comes running like a dog."

"No, even a dog isn't as eager as her!"

Their voices were low, but still reached my ears through the noisy music.

Levi didn't hear them. He was looking at me with concern, his eyes filled with a tenderness he wasn't even aware of.

As Levi and I stood frozen at the doorway for too long, Evelina couldn't help but come out.She shot me a glance of pure, burning envy the moment she laid eyes on me, as if wishing her gaze could incinerate me on the spot.

Feigning nonchalance, she latched onto Levi's arm and cooed in a sickeningly sweet voice:

"Levi, why haven't you come inside yet? I've been waiting all alone in there, and it's been unbearable..."

She leaned softly against Levi, who suddenly became flustered. He shoved me aside and rushed to support her:
