In the Forest Near Starter City No. 11
Two figures stood facing each other amidst the silent trees—one was GoMu, an Elite Goblin, while the other was Darknesss, a mysterious pitch-black humanoid.
Darknesss handed an item to GoMu and ordered him to use it immediately. As soon as GoMu activated the item, a green light flowed into his body, seeping into every cell. Within seconds, a drastic transformation occurred—scales began growing around his hands, feet, and neck. His body adapted to the new power, while the game system recognized the change as a Job evolution.
However, instead of merging his old Job with the new one, GoMu chose to fully reset his Job. In the game's mechanics, if a player switched to a Job with drastically different weapons and combat styles—for example, from Swordsman to Archer—all stats and skills would be reset.
As a result, GoMu's level dropped back to 1, and all his attributes reverted to 10, the base stats of the Goblin race. However, because GoMu was a goblin empowered by Darknesss' Spiral Energy, he received an additional +10 to all base stats, bringing them up to 20.
Now, GoMu's Job had changed from Goblin Swordsman to King Assassin Incarnation. All his previous sword skills vanished, replaced by dagger-based combat skills. However, the skills from his Title remained—including Spiral Berserk, his signature ability.
Darknesss briefly considered creating more subordinates but decided against it. For now, he had no clear plan—whether to destroy something or protect something. At the moment, he simply ordered GoMu to level up as much as possible on this planet while waiting to be summoned again.
After that, Darknesss wasn't sure what to do next. Out of boredom, he opened The Verse's game forum and began browsing the latest updates.
There, the Forum Admin had posted information about item drop rates:
- Common: 80%
- Uncommon: 70%
- Rare: 60%
- Super Rare (SR): 40%
- Ultra Rare (UR): 15%
- EX Rank: Less than 1%
Many players were showing off their SR and UR items, and after two days since the game's release, several major guilds had already formed. The average level of pro players was now Lv 30, while casual players were still around Lv 15.
Darknesss read almost everything on the forum, but after a while, he grew bored.
"Now, I still want to open more Random Boxes… maybe I'll get lucky and pull an EX-Rank item," he muttered.
Without hesitation, he opened 5 of his remaining 15 Random Boxes, leaving him with only 10 left. He purposely saved some, believing they might be useful later.

[ Summon Magic ]

Darknesss smirked. With these items, he was undoubtedly the strongest player in The Verse. Even if other players had EX-Rank items, they would still lose if he used everything in his arsenal.
"So… if this game truly connects to other universes, then players who obtained EX-Rank Jobs might have already been transported to other worlds. But I'm still here… Does that mean only EX-Rank Job holders can travel between universes?" he wondered.
To test his theory, Darknesss decided to try out his new skills:
Summon Magic and Plasma Blaster.
He fired Plasma Blaster, and in an instant, the energy blast obliterated everything in its path. Darknesss grinned—this skill was terrifyingly powerful.
Now, he wanted to test Summon Magic, but he was too lazy to find a strong monster to contract. Instead, he decided to search for a dungeon—perhaps there, he could find a rare monster to tame.
After 5 hours of travel, slaughtering monsters along the way, Darknesss stumbled upon a cave.
Above its entrance, a transparent blue screen read:
[ Dungeon of Demon Beast ]
Without hesitation, Darknesss entered the cave in Wind Mode.
Inside, the atmosphere was pitch-black, but to the Anti-Spiral's eyes—which could see even in the darkness of space—this level of obscurity meant nothing.
He ventured deeper until he found a massive door leading to the dungeon's first floor.
The first floor was crawling with 500 Elemental Wolves, each at Level 20 or higher.
The moment Darknesss stepped in, hundreds of wolves began growling, sensing his presence. Yet, they didn't attack immediately. Darknesss realized something.
"They can only detect me through instinct… not sight or magic."
Taking advantage of this, Darknesss expanded his wind form, spreading it across the entire room. In seconds, he created a vacuum zone—cutting off the oxygen supply.
The wolves weakened rapidly. Some struggled, snarling weakly as they searched for air. But Darknesss gave them no chance.
Occasionally, he solidified parts of his wind body into razor-sharp blades, silently slashing and stabbing the wolves with invisible, soundless attacks.
The process lasted 30 minutes.
One by one, the wolves fell—some from their wounds, others from suffocation.
Despite being magic-based creatures, their physical bodies still required oxygen to survive.
The first floor was completely cleared.
[ Level Up! ]
Darknesss felt a surge of energy—he leveled up 5 times, reaching Level 20. However, he also noticed that the EXP required for the next level had increased significantly.
Shortly after the last wolf died, a door to the second floor materialized in the center of the room.
Darknesss retracted his wind form, shrinking back into his humanoid shape.
Without hesitation, he stepped through the door.
As Darknesss entered the second floor, a new sight greeted him—hundreds of massive tiger-like monsters patrolling among stone ruins.
Brute Tigers—that was their species name.
Still in Wind Mode, Darknesss remained invisible to them. Their reactions were the same as the wolves—they could only sense him through primal instinct.
But this time, Darknesss chose a different approach.
"These monsters are stronger… I can't rely on the same method."
Swiftly, he compressed the surrounding air, creating high-pressure wind blades. The number of enemies was staggering—1,000 Brute Tigers, all Level 30 or higher. Darknesss knew better than to underestimate them.
In an instant, an invisible horizontal wind slash tore through the dungeon.
"SHRAKKKK!!!"
The unseen cutting wave bisected the tigers before they could react.
Panicked roars filled the air. Some Brute Tigers tried leaping away, but it was too late.
One attack—1,000 Brute Tigers annihilated instantly.
[ Level Up! ]
Darknesss felt his power surge again—he jumped from Level 20 to 25. Soon after, the door to the third floor appeared.
"How many more floors does this dungeon have? Well, might as well find out."
Without hesitation, Darknesss flew toward the next floor.
