10. With this Infinite Mana, I will reach the Peak

The system chuckled at Jin's request, not faulting her dear husband because he had come from a place of misinformation.

Squish~ Squish~

She hugged him tightly from behind, squeezing him in her embrace with her lips stretching into a cute smile.

"Looks like you got it all wrong, my dear husband," she said before releasing her arms from around the Dark Wizard and bending her head sideways to get a glance at her reflection in the mirror as well.

Jin looked at her from the mirror, wondering what she meant by what she said.

It's not like he had not said anything that wasn't basic knowledge of what systems were supposed to know.

From what he knows, he should have attributes, skills, stats, inventory and whatnot.

Not undermining the cheat of the infinite mana which he had received, he thought there would be more to come as they went along but it seemed that was just it.

He probably was not going to get any power-ups after that, or any stats points that he could add to make himself stronger or faster or as it applied to specific situations.

The system raised her finger and pointed to the side of her head as she shook it, puffing her cheeks and exhibiting a behaviour that dampened the seriousness of the matter.

"What do you think systems do?" she asked, staring at Jin's reflection with a gleam of curiosity in her eyes.

She genuinely wanted to know what he thought, because she was indeed surprised by his expectations of her.

"Give points and several other boosters to their host for them to progress. Make their host stronger. Gift rewards for the missions that are performed successfully…"

The system shook her head and pouted as Jin was listing out the things he believed were the duties of a system.

"Well, you are right," she said, "but very wrong as well."

Jin raised his brows. "Huh?"

"Certainly, you receive all these points and extra numbers for stats, as you called them but it is not us giving it to our hosts as a gift or reward. It is simply us analysing the progress data of the said host and informing them what gain or milestones they have achieved."

Jin tilted and scratched the side of his head, confused by this new bit of information as he tried to listen and figure out how it was different from what he knew and said earlier.

"For example, if you run 1500m every day for three days and by the end of the three days, you get about +3 points to stamina. It is not your system gifting you +3 points, rather it is your system checking the changes to your body over those three days and breaking it down into numerical data before telling you the progress you made, which is earning +3 points.

"If per adventure, you've been doing it for a few weeks, at some points, you will stop earning points because your system analyses it and finds out there is no growth in its host whatsoever. We don't give you +5 speed for you to become fast, rather we can tell if you have become faster than usual because of some reason and that's what we relay to you as the additional points you gain. It is actually your growth.

"However, a system has the right to give its user a special reward…"

Jin's eyes immediately widened and bubbled like a baby's the minute he heard this, but unfortunately for him, his system wife was not feeling benevolent enough.

"Ahem, I already gave you infinite mana. So forget about it," she said, stamping her foot on her hopes and squashing it to paste.

Jin's shoulders slumped hopelessly and he let out a sigh. He was disappointed because he had planned for so much and anticipated even more what he would gain from the system.

Regardless, he got his acts together and stared at his image in the mirror, not allowing this new development to quell his resolve to reach the pinnacle of the Eternal Realm.

'Infinite mana is more than enough,' he thought to himself. 'It means I have more mana than any other being in this world. I'm limitless when it comes to that. Now, I only have to put in the work into mastering spells to use at my disposal.'

He raised his hand in front of him and clutched it into a fist, his face expressing determination.

'With this infinite mana, I will reach the top like I had done before!'

******

About three to four days later.

Deep into the Forest of Elarizon, located in the Eastern Quarter of the Eternal Realm.

"What do you mean?" a voice bawled with authority and quite harshly as it demanded an immediate for what he had just heard.

The slender man who knelt before the owner of the authoritative voice gulped, not daring to raise his head to look forward.

"Ma-Master Jac-Jacoby, it hap-happened just a-as I said," the man stuttered, his jittery manner of speech further eliciting impatience and anger from the man he was referring to as Master Jacoby.

Jacoby Elariz, one of the higher-ups of the Clan Elariz's hierarchy and one of the sons of its patron.

"Father would certainly have heads for this," he pointed out, striking fear into the hearts of the men who were before him.

He had just received the news of what happened to his fellow clansmen who had been sent to deal with the Weiss, and if he was this angry about the news he received.

…Jacoby could not estimate how the patron would react to the report.

'That stupid Buma told me that the Dark Wizard was dead for sure. He swore it to me!' Jacoby gnashed his teeth in thought.

"Now, I'm hearing he is alive?'

Jacoby sighed, his face turning pale as he recalled another threatening factor to himself.

'And I personally informed Father about Jin's demise. Now he will think of me as incompetent, or even worse…'

Jacoby rolled his fingers into a ball and gritted his teeth. "Leave here!"

The men hurried out of the room without a second thought as Jacoby stood up thereafter and started to pace about the room.

'But I still have to tell Father. Otherwise, it will make matters worse, especially if Jin decides to take revenge for what was done to him.'

After a few minutes of moving back and forth, hands behind his back and his head wrapped in a cloud of reflections, Jacoby finally returned to what was a makeshift throne of a seat.

He relaxed his cheeks on his fist, his eyes stern and sharply focused.

"Father would certainly not be troubled by news that doesn't reach his hearing," Jacoby soliloquised, a smile forming on his face.

"...I will just have to kill the Dark Wizard again at the Bamboo Mountain. I'm certain you will be there, or won't you, Jin Weiss?"
