Chapter 8

Elise looked utterly bewildered. When she saw me on the screen, she nearly lost her mind.

"You! It's you again! Are you determined to drive me into a corner?!"

I casually said hi to her, nonchalantly trimming my nails.

"That's right."

She gritted her teeth, then after a few seconds of silence, she suddenly softened her voice.

"What will it take for you to leave me alone?"

"Please, I'm begging you, take it all back. Just say it was all fake, please."

I clicked my tongue and shook my head.

"When you left me homeless and forced to sleep in the park, did you ever think this day would come? You should know I'm the type who always gets even, and I have a heart of stone."

I smiled as I ended the video call.

The private detective also left without a word.

Elise was left alone, collapsing into uncontrollable sobs.

Elise had completely lost face back home.

She couldn't bear to stay any longer.

Her only option was to buy a ticket abroad to lay low for a while.
