Forgotten Once More

Ahem.

"That's just awkward."

Talking about whether to kill people right in front of them? Did you think they were deaf?

Well… they might as well be, given the anti-memetic effects at play.

Luo Shu couldn't even bring himself to answer SCP-055 directly. Instead, he subtly waved his hand and mouthed:

"It's fine. I just brought them here for a little tour. They'll forget everything soon."

Aside from the "God," Luo Shu had no irreconcilable grudges against the Foundation.

"Oh, if you say so." SCP-055 fell silent again.

But its words reminded Luo Shu of something.

Foundation documentation had once mentioned:

"SCP-055 may pose a severe physical threat, possibly having already killed hundreds without our knowledge. Its memetic/mental hazards are significant, warranting its Keter classification."

If that was just speculation, SCP-055's earlier offer confirmed it.

Luo Shu hesitated, then asked: "If the 'God' came here… could you eliminate him?"

SCP-055 went silent for a long time—like a system freezing up.

Just as Luo Shu was about to give up, it finally spoke.

"SCP-343 is Z█G█S█J█D█G█L█Z█, Y█Y█Q█D█D█L█L█. I cannot eliminate him. And I never want to see him again!"

Though much of the response was garbled, the last part was clear.

Even an anti-meme was afraid of the "God."

This made Luo Shu wonder—what was the purpose of anti-memes?

To guard the truth?

Or to hide from the "God's" persecution?

Perhaps both.

"Looks like I need to watch out not just for the 'God,' but also Marion Wheeler and her Anti-Memetics Division."

Since SCP-055 admitted it was no match for the "God," Luo Shu wouldn't lure him here.

He still needed SCP-055 to reveal the truth.

And while "Pursuit Over a Thousand Miles" confirmed the "God" was still at Site-17, who knew when Marion Wheeler—that elusive old woman—might show up?

Best not to linger.

Luo Shu closed SCP-055's containment door and turned to the team. "We should head back."

Bearded Jack didn't respond, silently following.

Over the radio, the Site Director didn't object either—though his consciousness was flickering in and out.

"What was that just now? What did I see?" he muttered.

Bearded Jack, dazed, replied: "See what? I didn't see anything."

His willpower was clearly weaker than the Director's.

As for the rest of MTF Nine-Tailed Fox, they were even worse off—some just stood there, blank.

Luo Shu had to line them up like kindergarteners, each holding the shirt of the person in front.

It took forever to drag this human chain back to Sublevel-4.

Once outside SCP-055's influence, their minds began to clear.

Bearded Jack blinked. "Uh… what's going on? Why are we gathered here?"

Luo Shu played along. "Probably because of last night? SCP-096 breached containment in Site-19."

"Oh… right, maybe." Bearded Jack scratched his head.

Meanwhile, the Site Director was still struggling. "Didn't you… go downstairs earlier? I thought you went to Sublevel-5…"

"No way. I don't remember that. Besides, Sublevel-5 is only accessible by elevator."

Perfect answer.

Luo Shu almost applauded. Compared to SCP-055, SCP-035 (The "Possessive Mask") was far more memorable.

Mention Sublevel-5, and everyone would think of SCP-035's containment zone—not the real one.

The Director was successfully misled. "Ah… must've misremembered."

Despite the staircase to the real Sublevel-5 being right behind them, no one noticed.

SCP-055—and the true Sublevel-5—were forgotten once more.

But with so many MTF operatives crowding the stairwell, they needed a plausible excuse.

To prevent the Director from suspecting anything, Luo Shu quickly improvised:

"I think you mentioned SCP-096 visited SCP-173 and SCP-049's cells last night. Shouldn't we check those?"

"Right! We should investigate. Let's go!"

Whether the Director bought it or not, Bearded Jack did.

And since both SCPs were under Luo Shu's care, it made sense for him to tag along—even as a newly promoted containment specialist.

The Director couldn't argue.

He just silently accepted this "reality"… no matter how off it felt.
