The Anomaly Compendium adding two new pages was exactly what Luo Shu expected.
His use of the Bratty Aura to pit SCP-165 and SCP-940 against each other had been decisive in their containment. Compared to MTF Epsilon-9 ("Fire Eaters"), who just mopped up the remnants, his contribution was undeniable.
But reading the entries, Luo Shu couldn't help but cringe.
SCP-165 (Hungry Sand):
Ability: Paralytic Toxin
"Disappointing, but at least it's straightforward."
SCP-940 (Puppet Spiders):
Ability: Parasitism
"What the hell?! This is worse than useless!"
(Thankfully, Compendium abilities were manually activated, not passive.)
By the time cleanup finished, it was already "morning"—though in Area-14's lightless caverns, day and night were indistinguishable.
The facility, carved into the Ruby Mountains, was a repurposed 19th-century mining complex. Abandoned gold and silver veins now housed Keter-class nightmares.
Luo Shu glanced up at the pitch-black "sky"—no ceiling visible, just steel scaffolds holding ground-level lights.
(Design logic: If a nuke goes off, the blast needs somewhere to expand.)
The Investigation
With the new "day," activity resumed.
Luo Shu and the Nu-7 lieutenant (Peter) were hauled to 51's logistics base for questioning.
No evidence linked them to the breach, but:
Two Keters appeared out of nowhere in Nu-7's barracks.
No footage showed them leaving containment.
Only two survivors.
("God" had played this perfectly—framing them without a trace.)
Luckily, Luo Shu had:
Fabricated the scene (burned room, swept sand).
Hacked the cameras (SCP-100's machine animation).
Now, suspicion was split between him and Peter.
The Interrogation (Prelude)
During the two-hour drive, Peter—grateful to Luo Shu for "saving" him—opened up:
"How'd you react so fast? You're from Site-19—how'd you know 165 and 940's weaknesses?"
Luo Shu's answer was flawless:
"I study all publicly available SCP files. Part of the job."
It was true.
Per the Anomaly Classification System (ACS), SCP-165 and SCP-940 were Keter but low-clearance. Their files were open to most personnel.
Luo Shu had indeed accessed them repeatedly at Site-19—both to legitimize his expertise and cross-check his memories against this world's records.
(A habit that paid off.)
The Watchers
In the security chief's office at 51, the Area-14 director listened in via the car's bug.
He pulled up Luo Shu's file—and found the access logs.
"D-20915 did review those files… but that doesn't rule out premeditation."
The director's eyes narrowed.
"Why would a D-class memorize Keter specs? Unless…"
