Chapter 48: Tavern Intrigue

~~~~~~~~~~~
Seraphina's POV
Lorien made sure I was fed with healthier food and fruits. He went to attend to the matters of the kingdom and left me with my maids.
They had arranged my dress for the day. I realized my senior maid was still locked in the dungeon with the royal chef.
I remembered how I felt when the mark was feasting on me. It felt like an insect was going about in my belly and eating my every organ; my lips trembled, and I coughed out blood.
My skin was so pale and Lorien was concerned. He was not aghast, just concerned. I was on the brink of death and thought I would never make it.
Caelum said something about needing darkness and light together. He said I've been in the light for too long so that the darkness was fading off me, why will I even have darkness in the first place?
I took a deep breath. Everything about this era was confusing. I needed to find solutions before they killed me.
