The Kaguya Clan's Annihilation (1/2)?
"So it really turned out like this..." Akio thought to himself. "Well, it makes sense. Most of the Kaguya who awakened their Shikotsumyaku this time overused it, and they probably won't live much longer."
"Besides, the damp climate of the Land of Water wouldn't allow Frostbone Grass to grow..." With that thought, Akio concluded that this war had effectively wiped out the once-great Kaguya Clan of the Warring States Era.
As for the Kaguya who fled to the Land of Water—they could already be considered a different clan altogether.
"But... 1/2? It looks like I'll have to make a trip to the Land of Water when the Kaguya rebellion happens in the future. There must be some key events I can witness."
"For now, I need to carefully allocate the 50 points I earned. Judging by Hashirama and Madara's growth rate, the Era of the Twin Gods isn't far off."
As Akio's thoughts wandered, his keen sensory abilities picked up something unusual around the battlefield.
"Who's there?!" He turned sharply and shouted.
The five elders of the Senju and Uchiha Clans, who had just begun to relax, tensed up once more, gripping their kunai as they scanned their surroundings. However, after five minutes, they found nothing out of place.
Akio looked embarrassed. "Sorry, sorry, I might have sensed wrong..."
The two Uzumaki elders were even more embarrassed. They had just started to believe that Akio had suddenly become reliable, only for him to prove them wrong again.
"No, my senses shouldn't be wrong... Could it be Black Zetsu?" Though Akio apologized out loud, his mind raced with possibilities.
Having knowledge of the future, Akio understood that Black Zetsu was the greatest manipulator in the entire Naruto world, plotting for millennia just to revive his mother, Kaguya Otsutsuki.
Akio wasn't naive enough to think that Black Zetsu only became active during the original storyline. Over the years, he had kept an eye out for its movements.
As a child, Akio had noticed a major inconsistency—the existence of the underground black market.
From the experiences of his clan elders, he learned that the black market had existed since their youth, yet no one knew its founder or who managed it.
So, Akio made a bold guess—the black market might have been created by Black Zetsu to gather intelligence for Kaguya's resurrection.
Furthermore, several events in the Warring States Era seemed oddly unnatural: The Hyuga successfully ambushed the Uchiha's Fourth Training Ground with ease; the Kaguya miraculously discovered Frostbone Grass near the Uzumaki Clan's territory; and even Kaguya Tokerei himself was detected by an ordinary Uzumaki scout...
"So it really was you pulling the strings from the shadows, Black Zetsu..." Akio finally confirmed his suspicions after sensing the being lurking near the battlefield.
"It's time I start learning my clan's sealing techniques..." With Edo Tensei, the Nine Tailed Beasts, and even Kaguya Otsutsuki's resurrection looming in the future, Akio made up his mind to master Uzumaki sealing techniques.
Meanwhile, deep underground in a dark cavern, a shadowy figure lurked.
"What an impressive sensory ability... I was nearly discovered," the figure mused.
"But even if I was, so what? No one understands my grand purpose, and no one knows who I am."
This figure was none other than Black Zetsu. He had no idea that not only had Akio sensed him, but he had also pieced together his plans over the years.
Thinking of Kaguya Otsutsuki, Black Zetsu's emotions swelled with intensity.
"Mother, wait for me. I will resurrect you! Those damned traitors, Hagoromo and Hamura—I will make them pay. Hamura's descendants, the Hyuga and Kaguya, are already dancing in the palm of my hand. Hagoromo's descendants, the Senju and Uchiha, will be next..."
"And the Uzumaki Clan… their dangerous sealing techniques must be eradicated!"
As the darkness swallowed his words, the underground cavern fell silent once more.
Back at the battlefield, the Senju, Uzumaki, and Uchiha Clans had finished sorting through the Kaguya Clan's resources. Just as Akio expected, dividing the massive pile of supplies became a source of conflict.
The first agreement reached was that the Uzumaki Clan would take 20% of the supplies. The two Uzumaki elders had no objections to this—after all, their clan was the weakest and contributed the least to the battle. They were already satisfied with their share.
However, when it came to the remaining supplies, the Uchiha demanded an even split, while the Senju elders argued that they had contributed more and should take 60%. The dispute escalated, and a fight seemed imminent.
At that moment, a recovered Madara Uchiha scoffed and turned to Hashirama. "We're taking half. Got a problem with that? If so, let's settle this in a fight."
Akio facepalmed. "Madara, you're asking Hashirama for help, but you sound like some overpowered protagonist..."
As expected, Tobirama nearly lost his temper at Madara's arrogance. Fortunately, Hashirama stepped in just in time to restrain him.
Forced to choose between his best friend and his clan, Hashirama sided with Madara. He turned to Senju Suiken and said, "Elder, let's split it evenly. The Uchiha suffered heavy losses too. Our people have been fighting for months and are exhausted. Another conflict with the Uchiha isn't worth it."
Senju Suiken was utterly disheartened by their so-called future clan leader...
In the end, Hashirama's insistence led to the Senju and Uchiha each taking 40% of the supplies. With that settled, the three clans packed up and began their journey home.
The Uzumaki Clan's contingent also started their return, carrying their share of the Kaguya Clan's resources. While their load was heavy, their hearts were heavier.
Their numbers had nearly halved during this campaign.
Before departing, Akio had noted that among the elite jonin who set out, there had been over a dozen. Now, only eight remained. Fortunately, their two peak jonin and the two elders were still alive—any more losses at that level would have crippled the clan.
As for the chūnin and genin, Akio had lost count of how many had died.
"In any case, this was a devastating loss for the Uzumaki Clan. The elders probably won't agree to help the Senju against the Uchiha for years... That's fine by me. I can finally focus on studying sealing techniques."
By the time the sky had turned completely dark, Akio and his clanmates finally returned home.
The Uzumaki Clan Leader and the Great Elder welcomed them at the village gates. Instead of immediately asking about the war, they arranged a grand feast for the returning warriors and had the supplies stored safely in the warehouses.
Akio ate only a little before excusing himself. His arm injury needed treatment.
After greeting the Great Elder, he returned to his small room, hastily bandaged his right arm, and collapsed onto his bed. Within moments, he was fast asleep.
After a month of war, he was utterly exhausted.
