Akio let out a sigh when he heard the news that Madara had left Konoha, setting down the third book in his hands.
Although he had anticipated this day would come, it still made him a little sad now that it had actually arrived.
From the very founding of Konoha, Akio had subconsciously tried to prevent the Battle at the Valley of the End from ever occurring. He had advised Hashirama not to let Tobirama join the Council of Elders, and after the Konoha Academy was established, he had suggested Tobirama be put in charge. All of this was to prevent Tobirama from having the time or opportunity to push the Uchiha into opposition with the other clans of the village.
At the time, although the Uchiha didn't have great relations with the other clans, no real conflicts had broken out.
Ironically, it was the very establishment of the Academy that produced a first batch of graduates who ended up clashing with the Uchiha.
Aside from that, although the two books he had written weren't exactly reliable, they had at least slightly improved the Uchiha's image in the eyes of others—though Madara himself had become something of an eccentric figure because of them...
It was also those two books that prompted Madara to go all out against the visiting Mu and Onoki, leading to injuries among the civilians and the destruction of homes—deepening the divide between the Uchiha and the rest of Konoha.
"So in the end, after all my effort to change the story, it ended up playing out the same way again... This split with Madara is not my fault!" Akio quickly washed his hands of responsibility. Madara leaving had nothing to do with him. He really had tried... probably.
"Granduncle..." Hashirama had unknowingly picked up Akio's book. "This is your third one? The Truth of the Uchiha... Tobirama once talked to me about this, but I never paid much attention…"
"So you anticipated that Madara would leave the village…" Hashirama smiled wryly.
Akio nodded. "In Konoha, the Uchiha have always been out of place among the clans. You being Hokage is fine, but once you step down, there's no chance Madara would ever become Hokage. The most likely candidate would be Tobirama. And when that time comes…"
Hashirama sighed. "Madara said the same thing to me… But no one from the Uchiha clan chose to leave with him this time. That means they still acknowledge Konoha. I won't let Tobirama act against them!"
Akio sighed again, thinking to himself, I just hope you won't be forced to, even against your will...
Then he asked aloud, "Did Madara tell you where he was going?"
Even though he already had a good idea, Akio still hoped things might be different.
To his surprise, Hashirama replied, "He did…"
Akio's heart leapt. Maybe his efforts hadn't been in vain!
But then Hashirama scratched his head and added, "But I didn't really understand what he meant…"
"What did he say?" Akio asked eagerly.
"He said, 'The One True God, seeking peace, split into Yin and Yang. The opposing forces interact, giving rise to all creation. I have found a way to truly realize my dream.' What's that supposed to mean?" Hashirama asked.
Akio felt a tinge of disappointment. That was clearly a passage from the Uchiha Stone Tablet. But after pondering the words carefully and glancing at the expectant look on Hashirama's face, he nearly burst out laughing.
"It means the Sage of Six Paths divided Yin and Yang. You're Yin, and Madara is Yang. If you two merge, the world will change. See? Just like what I wrote in my second book! Madara's gone to figure out how to merge with you!"
Hashirama looked dumbfounded. After a moment, he realized Akio was teasing him. "Granduncle… Are you really joking at a time like this?"
Akio chuckled. "What's done is done. Let's focus on how to solve the problem." With that, his usual optimism returned.
Though he had ultimately failed to prevent the Battle at the Valley of the End, the story was no longer quite the same—his presence had changed it.
In the original storyline, there was no one who could intervene in the fight between Hashirama and Madara. But now there was Akio.
If he couldn't stop the battle, then he would change its outcome.
"In that case, I'm sorry, Madara…" At the Valley of the End, Akio would have to choose between supporting Hashirama or Madara. Naturally, he would choose Hashirama.
After sending Hashirama off, Akio opened his status panel—something he hadn't done in a while.

During Hashirama's last fight against the One-Tail, Akio had felt that Hashirama had grown stronger. And by extension, Madara likely had too.
So if he wanted to change the outcome of their battle at the Valley of the End, he had to get stronger as well.
After a brief moment of hesitation, Akio allocated 60 points to Yang Release and 49 points to Yin Release.

"I may not take the blame, but doing something about it sure feels better... Plus, with Yin-Yang fusion… who knows what kind of surprise awaits."
However, what happened next caught Akio completely off guard. When he attempted to merge Yin and Yang Release, he actually failed—for the first time since obtaining the system.
"Even the system can't fully control Yin and Yang Release? Or is there still something I'm missing?" Akio murmured, falling deep into thought.
