"Sky, wake up! You're going to be late for school!" my mom yelled from downstairs. I rolled out of bed and glanced around my room, cluttered with boxes that still needed unpacking. After a quick shower, I checked myself out in the bathroom mirror.
My name is Skyler C. Woodwere. I am fifteen years old, and today is my first day at a new school after we moved to a different city. I dried off, picked out an outfit from my closet, and headed downstairs. My mom was waiting by the door.
- "Are you ready?" she asked.
- "Yeah, I guess," I replied. She smiled, and we headed out.
The drive was pretty quick-or at least it felt that way since I was lost in thought. Once we parked, I got out and noticed a mix of beasts and humans milling around.
- "Sky, I'm off to work now. I talked to your principal and went over everything. Go see him in his office; he'll get you your schedule and anything else you need," my mom told me. I nodded, thanked her, and walked into the school.
As soon as I stepped onto campus, I saw groups of beasts and humans chatting and laughing. While wandering through the hallway, I couldn't help but think how different this place was from my old school. My thoughts were interrupted when I bumped into someone." HEY! WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING, DUMBASS!" a voice shouted. I looked up to see who I had collided with-a tall, muscular wolf. His bright green eyes caught my attention, sparkling in the sunlight like they had some magic.
-"Sorry about that. I wasn't paying attention," I quickly apologized, and he sighed.
- "It's cool. I haven't seen you around before. Are you new?" he asked.
- "Yeah, today's my first day," I said.
- "Nice! I'm Kevin," he introduced himself.
- "I'm Skyler," I replied.
- "You've got a pretty name," he said, making me blush.
I'd never really heard my name complimented like that before. Maybe he was just one of those flirty types. I thought about asking him for directions since I had no clue where the principal's office was.
- "C-could you tell me where the principal's office is?" I asked shyly.
-"Yeah, just go straight and take the next left. You'll see it," he said, pointing the way.
I thanked him, and he smiled before heading off with his friends, his tail wagging slightly. I can't lie-he was handsome and cute. I followed his directions and finally made it to the office. I knocked on the door."Come in," I heard someone say as I stepped inside.
