"Elissa?" Martha questioned as she opened the door. She overheard a knock on the door which prompted her from her seat, and drove her to the door.
She was surprised at seeing her best friend, standing at the door with the same dress which she wore at the club the previous night. Her hair was well packaged, with her face made up beautifully to show off her beauty, looking as though there was something she prepared for.
"Hello Martha" Elissa replied.
She never said another word, neither did she need any permission before she walked past her friend into the room. She walked and sat on the couch, having her hands on the armrest of the chair and her other fingers favouring her forehead and the temple of her head.
"Where the hell have you been?" Martha asked her. She closed the door and walked towards her friend with a puzzled face. She looked at her friend who sat in a distressed state, whose face was squeezed and eyes darkened as though she had wept profusely.
It was as though the Elissa who was seated in the room was the exact opposite of the one who had expressed so much euphoria over her eighteenth birthday on the previous night, who had cheered so wildly and had her voice at the top of the room, drinking with the liberty that came with the adulthood
"Where do you think?" Elissa asked her. She wasn't wearing a smile on her face which she asked, and rolled her eyes as she repositioned herself on the chair with a heavy heave of sigh.
"I don't know?" Martha shrugged her shoulders as she walked towards her friend.
"The last time I remember, you left me for a handsome man in the club…" Martha said with her fingers on her chin, and then a smile that lit up her face as she uttered those words, staring at her friend with the hopes that the excitement in her would transmit to her friend.
"Don't say it…" Martha squealed the words as she tapped her best friend on the shoulders.
"Tell me you did spend the night with that handsome man" Martha asked.
For some reason unknown to Elissa, there was something to actually smile about even though there was trouble which loomed due to her actions. Perhaps, it was the sudden exhilaration that lit up her friend and the way it was communicated to her that caused her to smile up a bit before she spoke out.
"Yes, I did" Elissa answered.
"I'm amazed" Martha said.
"I didn't know that things would escalate that fast. You're a pro at these things" Martha said again with excitement.
She had sighted the man at first, and her instinct had assured her that this certain man was possibly too strict or too hard to get, no matter the advances which would be made.
But she watched as Elissa's face completely changed again, from wearing a smile that elevated the beauty of her makeup, to wearing a sad face that in some way communicated something awkward.
"What is it, Elissa?" Martha asked. She pulled herself closer to her friend, and held her by the hand.
"I messed up!" Elissa groaned the words. She stood from the chair, pacing around the room with one hand on her waist, and another on her head, causing the other who sat to seem worried.
"Just say what happened!" Martha responded.
"We had sex…" Elissa said, hitting the nail on the head.
"Okayyyy. I already guessed that" Martha said.
Within her, she never felt surprised over those words, especially when she had searched for Elissa throughout the night, within and outside the club. Never having a clue of where she was, she was forced to leave the club without her, and with the impression that she was having a good time with the man she found.
"I woke up this morning, and he was gone." Elissa halted her pacing and said.
"What?" Her eyebrows were raised, and her eyes widened in surprise.
"Now that's not the awkward part. It's the fact that I never knew him, or anything about him. He didn't leave a number, or perhaps an address for me to locate him" Elissa said again
Her words were coated in deep saddened emotions. They felt saddened because of the words which he had spoken to her that night, how he claimed to have never found another who possessed the ability to charm him the way she did.
Within her, even though the world had sidelined her, and caused her to feel as though she was never regarded as anyone special, his words made her feel alive again, to feel different about herself, as though she was special again, especially in the eyes of a man her heart yearned for.
But if he left without any words, didn't it mean that all the things he said were just his ways of making her gullible to the things he had in mind for her, to the satisfaction he sought from her?
These questions were the things that drowned her morale, that made her consider herself as a fool, as one who was immature in decision-making.
"I got drunk in that club, and he took me to a hotel. After that, we had sex, he left the room, and I had to ask the receptionist for his identity, or something he must have penned down if I needed to find him again. Turns out he is the Alpha's Son" Elissa said.
"A werewolf?" Martha screamed the words with her eyes widened, and immediately covered her mouth with her hands as she realized that the words she had screamed could have been heard by another person.
"This is bad. This is really bad." Martha said with her hands placed on her head, looking towards the ground in confusion.
"I'm doomed, Martha. What do we do?" Elissa asked. It had been the same question which rose in her heart since she realized what had happened, and she was hoping that Martha would have an idea of what to do.
