Finding Zeph

"You're going to do what?" Martha asked. It sounded like the most grotesque statement ever made by her friend. It was as though she had lost the knowledge of how sacred life is regarded to be, and was thinking and acting based on the feeling of regret and shame she perceived in the later future.

"I said what I said!" The other folded her hands with anger, shaking her shoulders and staring at the wall while she paid less attention to her friend's words

"You will do no such thing" Martha challenged.

"That's because I told you, right?" Elissa said as she looked at her friend.

"If I didn't, you wouldn't have known for the slightest chance, and I would have eliminated it before you could even think of a solution" she said again.

"What's going on with you?" Martha questioned.

"This is certainly a different friend I have at the moment" Martha said again.

"Trying to cover up for your mistakes is making you take more drastic decisions, and from one unconscious mistake you've made, you're gradually tending towards the dark side, and this is consciously." Martha said.

"Elissa, you need to rethink" Martha said as she walked towards her friend.

She grabbed her hand, and squeezed it tightly in her hand as she tried to compel her friend into rethinking her decision.

"You don't understand, Martha. That's your only problem. You don't know what it feels to get drunk and wake up raped, and finding out you're pregnant for a man you've never known" Elissa said with tears rolling down her eyes.

There were no words to describe just what she felt within her being. It was as though a part of her being was ripped out, and was incomplete.

"You're right." Martha concurred.

"I don't know what it feels to be raped. But that doesn't mean I don't care about you. If there is anything I wish for you right now, it is to eliminate the things that happened. But since that cannot be eliminated, it's best we have to learn from the mistakes and see what efforts can be made to correct them, even though not totally" Martha said.

"Like what?" Elissa argued.

"Telling my parents that I slept with a man whom I don't know" Elissa asked again.

"Again, Elissa, we just need to talk to any of your parents who are more understanding and accommodating, someone who would listen without having to judge you for your mistakes" Martha said.

"It's not working" Elissa retorted. She never rethought of her decision, neither did she even consider Martha's. She never needed to consider which of her parents would listen to her. She was certain that their hearts would be shattered by her actions, and further punishments which she could not tell would be poured on her.

"Oh my God…" Martha heaved a heavy sigh as she turned around, standing with her right hand placed on her head, and her hands placed on her waist as she tried to think of what to say.

"Except you have another idea better than telling my parents, then I stick with getting rid of this baby inside of me" Elissa said again as she sat back more comfortably, and glared at the wall.

A few minutes later, after Martha paced round the room with her thoughts brainstorming on what was right to do, and her heart uttering words of prayer that would cause her friend to have a change of heart.

"I have another idea" she heaved a sigh as she finally uttered. She stood akimbo with her hands folded, and her eyes glued to Elissa who had turned with a certain excitement that immediately disappeared as soon as both eyes were locked.

"It's not like you'll take it. You've never agreed to anything I said for the past few days" Martha said with her eyes rolled upwards.

"If I see it fit and better than the others, then I'll take it" Elissa said.

"You need to find Zeph" Martha said

"What?" Elissa asked with widened eyes.

"You heard me." Martha answered.

"You need to tell someone. You've told me, because I'm your friend. I've asked that you tell your parents because they would have the best idea to fix this issue, but you've disagreed. Now, you need to tell Zeph because he is the father of the child" Martha suggested.

"What?" Elissa asked again.

"What is it this time around?" Martha asked with a groan. It was as though the other never sought for help, or sought for it in a way that would not ruin her name or her personality further.

"What's your problem?" Elissa asked.

"I decided never to see him again, or have anything to do with him again" Elissa said with a stubborn face, folding her lips downwards.

"Listen to me. You need to let him know that whatever game he played that night had produced a long-lasting result, and he should take care of it" Martha said again.

"Besides…" She said again as she walked towards the bed and sat with her again.

"I kind of know who kind of people are. He is of werewolf blood. And the good part is, he is the son of the king of his clan or dynasty or whatever they call themselves" she paused as she heaved a heavy sigh and swallowed hard before she continued.

"If he takes responsibility for what he has done, then trust me, he is more than rich to take care of both and your child. Besides, if others find out that you are having an affair with a king, then there would be late respect than the gossips, and the gossips will come with jealousy and wishes" Martha said.

"If I am to consent to this plan of yours, what happens if he denies the baby? What then happens if he doesn't want to take care of the child?" Elissa asked after a few minutes of rethinking this new suggestion.

The other was stunned to utter another word, trying to rethink or come up with a statement that would be fierce enough to convince Elissa, and she finally responded, "Let me take your words. Let's just hope that positivity speaks for us."
