The requiem soon started to trail off as the sound of someone trying to force their way through the door chirped into his ears.
The continuous rustle at the door began to pull Nuel slowly out of the darkness he had been forced into, but he couldn't get his body to move.
Nuel opened his eyes in the slowest way possible to get a fraction of first light, but he was quick to shoot them close.
He felt tired for no peculiar reason and it felt like he had aged a hundred years in mere hours.
He could feel his body failing him as if every ounce of strength he had on him had been drained out of him while he was asleep.
Nuel moved his head to the side a little to take a glance at something— the bitch from last night.
Her body had turned purple and pale, her eyes still wide open while her transparent linen gown gave exposure to her bare body.
She was indeed a procumcious woman who had the perfect curves and beauty, but that was not enough reason for Nuel to keep her alive— not even close.
The Philikio family he works for had assigned him to the mission to get rid of a certain woman who had been caught on numerous occasions harnessing dark magic.
No one knew about her identity or how she gained access to the city, but that was the least of Nuel Ainsworth's concerns. All that mattered to him was getting rid of her as soon as possible— not just to satisfy the order of the Philikio family, but also to fulfill the pledge he had made to annihilate magic users.
Just like those cliché movies, Nuel had framed a conscious meeting which she wasn't aware of and without batting an eye, she had accepted to hook up with him for the night.
She introduced herself as Ava and was moltened by the grace Nuel carried. He was a hell of a handsome man and she felt a click with him in an instant
His cold azure eyes gave her the tingles with his well chiseled jawline that could pass for a knife and his well refined deep tone made her quiver and let her holy fountain splurge unholy juices.
His broad chest could fit two of herself in a bear hug and his biceps were to die for that she didn't mind him crushing her with his weight during their steamy first night together.
Ava had fallen for Nuel at first meet and she barely gave room to reconsider her actions even though she had only known him for a few hours.
She had promised to come back for Nuel in the evening and she took it upon herself to make him dinner with the thought the fastest way to a man's heart was through his stomach— but that was just her walking into her early grave.
Nuel shot his eyes as soon as he laid them on Ava's limp body. A surge of gladness warmed up the cold dungeons in his heart upon the sight of her dead remains.
A small smile cracked on his lips and he gave in to a quick resolve— to get some more sleep while he regained his strength.
He didn't do much work in taking Ava out, and he wondered what made him so weak to the extent that he couldn't feel any muscle in his body move.
As he slowly reclined to take another round of rest, the door suddenly busted open, his eyes shot open and his head turned in the direction of intrusion.
Two gallant men with stoic faces stepped through the door, walking towards him and then more men forced their way through, as if they were attempting a raid.
With a sudden burst of adrenaline, Nuel jumped to his feet, the feeling of his failing strength becoming an echo of the past.
He glided into a defensive posture as he was confused about what was suddenly happening. His gun was lying by Ava's feet, but before he could reach it, a loud BAM rammed into his head.
The next minute, he was mauled into the floor like a thief, the men pressing him into the floor as he tried to buckle out of their hold.
But his body eventually gave in and soon all he could see was the world turning to a blur.
A man, who seemed to be the leader of the gang, stepped into the apartment without removing his shoes. The other men began to bow their heads to him as he walked towards Nuel who was still pinned to the floor.
Nuel tried to fight against his blurry sight, but alas, he succumbed and he was soon spiraled into total darkness, again.

Despite being knocked out, Nuel could still grasp a little sense of what was going on around him.
"...Get him to the car…"
He heard the man say and the next was him being dragged through the doorway, then into the elevator.
He lost his senses for a while and the next time he could feel his surroundings was triggered by the continuous bumps the vehicle had.
It was as if the roads were unpaved and filled with ridiculous holes which was not what they should be like on a normal day.
The jiggling in the vehicle gave his stomach an upturn and it churned in every little while. Unable to hold it in any longer, Nuel with a loud burp throwed up right into the face of the man that was sitting opposite him in the vehicle.
For a little while, there was silence as he finally regained his consciousness.
"You little bastard!" The man he had drenched raged furiously in an attempt to attack Nuel, but two other men sitting alongside him quickly held him down.
"Enough, Raie!" The man who seemed to be the one in control declared calmly that Nuel was forced to turn at whoever had just spoken.
He exuded an aura that was both captivating and unnerving, like a calm eye at the center of a storm as he sat there.
Despite the chaos around him, his gentle features and serene expression made him appear almost... peaceful. It was as if he was detached from the turmoil, observing it with a quiet, introspective gaze.
And with one single statement, he had had his men mount to a stop.
Nuel frowned at him, his natural instincts ready for combat if need be. These men had broken into his home without notice and if he knew what the situation was— he had been abducted.
"What are you people?" Nuel asked.
"Nuel Ainsworth, my name is Khaos Valtor. Apologies for the sudden intrusion, but that was the fastest and easiest way to get to meet you."
"I don't care what your name is, what are you people and what do you want from me?" Nuel barked again.
Khaos got up from his seat and his men made room for him quickly, allowing him to sit opposite Nuel.
With his voice laced with a sinister calmness, Khaos spoke,
"You would wish you had known my name earlier, Nuel. Now, it's the last thing you'll ever forget... and the first thing you will beg to never hear again."
