- Back in reality -
Insert wake up routine here. Same old habits, you know how it goes. Stretching, washing your face, changing, brushing teeth, eating breakfast, etc. Scott was still sleeping, but suddenly woke up to scream, "Hey!"
"Scott? You had a bad dream or something?" You asked, and got up.
Scott didn't answer as he got up the futon and dashed to the door, and you just shrugged it off. Until he opened the door to reveal Ramona was there, holding the package he ordered.
"Um... Scott Pilgrim?" Ramona asked, and Scott froze, staring at her.
"Do you want to go out sometime? Do you- I think we should date." Scott asked, and you almost choked on your orange juice.
"Real... smooth... Scott..." You coughed, hitting your chest.
"Hold on, Y/N?" Ramona asked, noticing you.
"Ahem. Yeah, hi Ramona. Uh... Looks like the 'later' came by a little earlier." You awkwardly chuckled, and waved.
"What's the deal with him?" Ramona asked, pointing at Scott.
"Long story, but..." You started, but promptly paused. "...I actually don't know. Anyway, you here to deliver the package to him, or...?"
"Hey, look... I just woke up, and you were in my dream. I dreamed you were delivering me this package. Is that weird?" Scott explained, but you knew what was up.
"Oh, god... Oh, man, now I recognize you." Ramona said, and sighed.
"Um... No! Wait! You don't...I'm not crazy, if that's what you're getting at." Scott nervously defended himself, very much flustered.
"No, no, it's... it's just, like, like this really convenient Subspace Highway happens to go through your head. It's like three miles in fifteen seconds, and through your-" Ramona tried to explain, but Scott cut her off.
"Hold on, what? Subspace Highways?" Scott asked.
"Yeah... Huh? What?" Ramona said, not really sure what Scott didn't understand.
"You're... talking crazy talk?" Scott commented.
"Is this something they don't teach in Canadian schools?" Ramona asked, and turned to you.
"I mean, I know about them. But I didn't learn about Subspace Highways in Seattle schools." You replied, shrugging.
"Right. It's like... rapid transit? Subspace Highways?" Ramona tried explaining.
"Like in Super Mario 2?" Scott asked.
"Ummmmmm... no. It really isn't like that at all." Ramona denied, and shook her head.
"Allow me. So, the subspace is kind of a place. Like a pocket universe. So, Subspace Highways are basically portals to someone else's mind. Kinda like the portals that lead to the VW." You explained, and Scott just stared, dumbfounded. "Nevermind, I think we lost him."
"At least you know about them. I don't think they know about them in Canada. I was always wondering why they were always empty up here. Except yours, which was very much full." Ramona explained, and Scott snapped out of it.
"So... um, I guess you're American? Like Wyenn?" Scott asked.
"Yeah...? Why, am I coming off as rude, or something like that?" Ramona asked, just a little irritated.
"You don't remember me, do you? We, um, we met at that party the other day. Ramona Flowers, right?" Scott said, trying to make himself sound cool.
"Oh, my god... You asked me about- Pacman and Sonic guy? I just thought you were crazy! I'm so sorry." Ramona apologized, actually a bit worried.
"Nice nickname." You jested as you crossed your arms.
"Screw you." Scott pouted, and turned to Ramona. "Ahem. No, it's cool. That's okay. I get that a lot."
"You really have to sign for this, though." Ramona said, holding up a pen and pointing at the paper on the package.
"But if I sign it, you'll leave!" Scott did what you assumed was... flirting? You thought it was.
"Well, yeah... I have a job, see? I'm on the clock." Ramona said as she pointed to her watch.
"Can we go out sometime? Or, I mean, I mean... Can we maybe just hang out? Can we get to know each other? You're new in town, right? I've lived here forever- I mean- I mean... there... are... reasons... for you to hang out with me." Scott stuttered, and Ramona just looked at him, unsure.
"You're all over the place." She commented, lightly amused.
"But I'm so sincere!" Scott innocently protested.
"Sincerely lame, maybe." Ramona commented, but in a playful way.
"Your thingy goes through my head, right? You rollerblade through my head on your way to deliver stuff. So that's why I'm so obsessed." Scott rambled, and soon corrected himself in a panic. "Wait... let's pretend I didn't say obsessed."
"You're totally obsessed, aren't you? I need to find a new route." Ramona said, sighing.
"I'm available, the VW is open 24/7. All you need is a boost pad, and you're good to go." You offered yourself, and Ramona considered it for a moment.
"Either that, or you need to start hanging out with me." Scott suggested, and you had to admit, compared to the last offer to hang out with him, this one was a little more slick.
"You want me to hang out with you?" Ramona asked, biting the end of the pen in a way you quite couldn't describe. Not flirty or nervous, or anything, just... biting it.
"Um... if that's cool." Scott replied, and looked at the paper.
"Uhh... how about tonight? Is tonight okay for you? Can you please sign this and take your stupid CDs?" Ramona said, handing him the paper and pen.
"Yes!! Certainly!! Ramona Flowers!! Awesome!" Scott's smile was as wide as a mile as he signed the paper.
After signing, he returned the pen and threw the package at the trash bin. Or he would've, if you hadn't caught it before it hit. "Hey, I dunno what you ordered on the CDs, but I don't want them damaged." You scolded him.
"Uh... sorry. Heh." Scott apologized.
And then Scott and Ramona almost had sex. But you weren't there, so you wouldn't know.
- Eventually, next day -
"Close the damn door! It's freezing!" Wallace shouted from the living room, holding a cup of coffee.
Scott had just returned from sleeping, without any sexual relations involved, with Ramona. You, however, were warming yourself with smoke.
"It took me like five hours to get here from Dundas!" Scott replied, and closed the door behind him.
"Yeah, your mom, Wyenn, and I have been worried sick." Wallace said.
"Oh, and here's a letter for you." You added as you held a white envelope, and tossed it to Scott.
"Dude, a letter? I got a letter?" Scott asked as he walked toward the futon. "So yeah, I don't know if I told you about this girl Ramona, but man, she's so amazing. She's totally... I can't... yeah."
"Did you sleep with her?" Wallace asked, and you gave him a "that's what you care about?" look.
"What would even be the chances of that happening? Not high, probably-" You were cut off as Scott answered.
"As a matter of fact, Wyenn... yes. I slept with her in bed." Scott replied, and you halted.
"Well, shit. I stand corrected." You commented. And now you knew.
"Actually, you're half-correct. I didn't have sex with her. We just kinda made out and fell asleep." Scott added, and you just nodded.
"And you're telling us this because..." You asked, and took a sip of your own cup of coffee. "Actually, don't answer that. I don't care."
"Good thing Knives and you aren't a thing anymore. Wyenn made sure she knew you were no good." Wallace commented, giving you a thumbs up.
"I didn't want Knives' heart broken or Scott getting weird stares from the police." You clarified, and everyone else nodded.
"...thanks for that." Scott reluctantly said, and sat down on the futon.
"So who's the letter from?" Wallace asked, looking over Scott's shoulder.
"Dear Mr. Pilgrim, My name is Matthew Patel, and I'm... uh huh, yeah... Received no reply to my e-mail of Saturday... Consider this a fair warning... blah, blah, blah... fight schedule... etcetera..." Scott read, and you and you raised an eyebrow.
"So, the usual?" Wallace asked as he took a massive gulp of his coffee.
"I guess I'm just not interested in whatever this gentleman is selling." Scott shrugged, about to make a paper ball of the letter.
Until you snatched it. "Let me read that. I'll tell you what's up." You said, and began reading the letter in detail.
"M'kay." Scott said as he slumped on the futon looking up at Wallace. "Oh, hey, we have a show tomorrow. At the Rockit. You should come."
"Meh, sure." Wallace shrugged. "I have nothing else to do."
You've got a show to give. But wait, what did the letter say? Before you hopped into the VW, you took mental note of the information in the letter, which in a nutshell, was saying that Scott was to fight Ramona's exes to win her love.
