Chapter 3: A Name That Shouldn’t Exist

Raine's fingers tightened around the hospital bed sheets as she sat in silence, absorbing everything.

According to the nurse, she had been in a coma for three months after being found unconscious near an abandoned building. No identification, no family, no past—just a nameless girl on the verge of death.

Yet, the name Raine Vesper had appeared on the hospital records.

The problem?

That name didn't exist.

Asteria Vale had spent years in the spotlight, but she had never heard of anyone named Raine Vesper. No social security records, no birth certificate, nothing. It was as if this body's past had been erased.

Or worse—it had never belonged to anyone in the first place.

A shiver crawled up her spine.

Who was I before this? And why am I in a body that shouldn't exist?

She needed answers. And there was only one way to get them—by walking back into the world that had once destroyed her.

She pushed the hospital blanket off, wincing as her weak legs protested. No time to be fragile. If she was going to reclaim her life, she had to start moving.

Asteria Vale was gone.

But Raine Vesper?

She was just getting started.
