Raine didn't flinch as Kairo's breath ghosted over her ear. He was testing her.
Fine. Two can play this game.
She tilted her head slightly, a smirk tugging at her lips. "You seem obsessed with me, Kairo. Should I be flattered?"
Kairo chuckled, stepping back just enough to look her in the eyes. Golden. Sharp. Too damn perceptive.
"Maybe I just like solving puzzles." He flicked his gaze toward the half-open file cabinet behind her. "And you, Raine Vesper, are the most interesting one I've come across."
Her fingers twitched. This was dangerous.
She needed to redirect him. Fast.
She crossed her arms, feigning boredom. "So, what now? Are you going to report me?"
Kairo's lips curled into something dangerous. "Depends."
Raine raised a brow. "On?"
He leaned closer, his voice dropping to a murmur. "How much you're willing to play my game."
A chill ran down her spine. This wasn't just curiosity. This was a challenge.
A test. A trap. A twisted offer.
Raine's smirk didn't waver. She had survived worse.
"Fine," she whispered. "Let's play."
