Chapter 27: The Masked Players

Raine stared at the message, heart pounding. Not the only one wearing a mask?

Her fingers hovered over the screen. A thousand questions raced through her mind.

Who else was hiding something?

She clenched her jaw. No. They wanted her rattled. She wouldn't let them win.

Before she could respond, another message popped up.

Unknown Number: It's fun watching you pretend. But masks crack, eventually.

Her breath hitched. They were close. Watching her.

Enough.

Raine: Enjoy the show while you can. Because when I find you, I won't be so entertaining anymore.

No response.

She locked her phone, shoving it under her pillow. Fine. Let them play their little mind games.

Tomorrow, she had bigger things to focus on—like winning.

But as she drifted off, one thought haunted her.

If she wasn't the only one wearing a mask... then who else was pretending?
