Kai's Real Father

Ever since she was a child, Andrea was always great at studying, and that is why it took only two hours for her to study all the information given to her by Gael.

Andrea placed the tablet on the bed in Kai's room with a sigh and looked at her baby, who was already awake in his crib.

"Your dad's family is very complicated, Kai. Now, I'm having second thoughts about whether I want you to associate with them, but I have already made a promise to your father, and I must fulfill it," Andrea said softly.

A soft chuckle left her lips as Kai's innocent gaze met hers. She started making silly faces at her baby but was startled when he suddenly started crying.

She immediately picked him up from his crib, and a smell hit her nose.

Knowing he needed a diaper change, she placed a clean towel on the bed before laying Kai down. She also placed two pillows at Kai's side before removing his soiled diaper and wiping him clean.

After putting on a new diaper, Andrea dressed her son back in his outfit.

Tickling his belly, she whispered "You are good as new."

Kai's body gave a little wiggle at his mother's touch, then let out a tiny yawn, making Andrea laugh.

"You're still sleepy? Well, better sleepy than crying," Andrea smiled as she held him in her arms, gently patting his back and humming a song until he fell asleep.

She walked back to the crib and gently kissed his forehead before laying him down softly. Just as she placed him in the crib, the sound of the doorbell echoed through the house.

Andrea wondered who could possibly be visiting at this time. Moving quickly, she closed the nursery door behind her, making sure little Kai wouldn't be disturbed.

When she reached the front door and opened it, she was surprised to see an older woman who looked to be in her sixties standing there. Before Andrea could even ask who she was, the woman pulled her into a warm hug and said with a smile,

"I still can't believe Gael is married and already has a son."

Andrea stood frozen for a moment, and when she gathered herself, she slowly pulled away from the woman "I still don't know who you are."

This woman's face wasn't in the documents Andrea had studied—so who was she? And then, she remembered that Gael had told her the nanny who took care of him as a child was coming today.

"Oh, where are my manners? I was just so excited to meet you. My name is Hannah, but you can call me Aunty Hannah," Hannah introduced herself with a warm smile.

Words could not describe how shocked and happy she had been when she received a call from Gael telling her that he already had a wife and a son. Finally, there was no need for her to worry about that workaholic's future.

"It's nice to meet you too. Gael told me that you're like a mother to him."

Hannah's smile faltered after Andrea spoke. "I did my best to take care of the boys after their mother passed away, but in a family like the Ashford's, there wasn't much an ordinary nanny like me could do."

Hannah held Andrea's hand and said "Gael told me that he is taking you to the company anniversary to introduce you as his wife. I know that family well, and once they find out that you are not the daughter of a reputable family, they will try their best to bring you down and make you feel like nothing. But you must never allow this. Do not let any of them intimidate you or make you feel small."

"I won't. Thank you, Aunty Hannah," Andrea said with a soft smile.

Hannah released her hand and asked, "Now, can I see the little baby? No matter how much I asked, Gael refused to send me any pictures."

Andrea chuckled at Hannah's frown "Kai is sleeping, but you can still come with me to see him."

Hannah's eyes lit up at the mention of seeing the baby. She followed Andrea to the nursery, and a soft gasp left her lips as she saw the sleeping baby.

"He is so beautiful, and he looks just like his father," Hannah whispered softly, afraid to wake the little angel.

Andrea didn't say anything. She knew she had to get used to this—to people saying Kai looked like Gael. She had to get used to Gael being seen as the father of her baby. But luckily, this would only last for two years—or less if they found out who had murdered Fabian. Once the truth comes out, everyone would know that Kai's real father was Fabian.
