Ivan's POV.
I've been in a terrible mood since yesterday and I just don't know why. I should be celebrating because my biggest problem has been solved but I'm having mood swings like a pregnant woman. I sighed remembering what mom said to me.
Flashbacks.
After Blair left the house, mom looked at me with disgust while dad looked disappointed.
"What have you turned into, Ivan? This isn't the man we brought you up to be." Mom said to me.
"I'm very disappointed in you, son." Dad said.
"Until you bring my daughter-in-law home, don't show your face to me or speak to me." Mom said and left and dad followed.
I left home too and came to the office and spent the night here. To be true to myself, I really did mess up. I shouldn't have told such a lie against her. Although I want her out of my life, but not in this way.
My door opened and Dan came in with a not so happy face which I don't want to be bothered about, I've got myself to fix.
"Good morning, Ivan." He greeted and sat on a chair, in front of me.
"Good morning." I replied.
I waited for him to speak but he was just sulking. I tried to ignore him, but now I can't help it any longer.
"Hey, what's wrong with you? Did a lady break your heart?" I asked.
"You broke my heart, bro." He replied.
"Last time I checked, you're not gay. So how did I break your heart?" I said.
"Why did you have a fight with your wife?" He asked and I got shocked, how did he know?
"I can tell that this time, it's big. Because it's obvious that she moved out of the house." He said.
"Stop spewing out nonsense." I tried to deny it.
"It's you who should stop trying to deny the truth." He replied.
"Hey! I'm your boss, remember?" I glared at him.
"Whatever it is, apologize to her and settle with her." He said.
"Apologize to her? What if it's me who got wronged?" I asked.
"That can never be possible." He said with certainty and I just want to beat this guy up.
"You're the one who always wrongs her. Stop making things wrong, make things right this time." He added and I sighed.
He's right, I've really been unfair to Blair since we got married. I'm an asshole, I made her marry me and then turned her life into hell.
"How did you know we had a fight?" I asked.
"She's my neighbor." He replied.
"What?!" I burst out.
"Yup, I just found out last night when we met in the elevator. She didn't tell me anything, but I know because of the shopping bags with her. Why would she go shopping for her old apartment when she has a matrimonial home? Plus, I noticed she wasn't wearing her wedding ring." Dan said and I facepalmed myself. Guilt is eating me up.
"Kill your pride, Ivan and make things right." He said and I glared at him. He's right though, self pride is one of my major problems.
"I know you're not a bad person, you have a good heart and conscience. And I know you're feeling guilty for whatever you did to your wife. So end your guilt by doing the right thing." He added and I sighed deeply, thinking of what to do. Then I picked up my phone.
"What are you doing?" Dan asked.
"Doing the right thing." I replied and opened my call log.
"Do you want to call her?" He asked and I nodded and he snatched the phone from me as I was about dialing her number.
"In matters like this, it's best to go to her personally." He said.
"Go to her house? I won't." I replied sharply.
"Ivan..."
"I won't. This conversation is over. Time for work." I interrupted him, opening a file.
Dan sighed. "You have a meeting at Chile's Eatery in thirty minutes." He said, looking at his wrist watch.
"Thirty minutes? And we were...Dan, you're too much. When were you going to tell me?" I said while packing up quickly.
We arrived at the eatery and I sighed. It's the same eatery Blair and I had dinner on our wedding anniversary and my guilt washed over me again.
"Stall the meeting, I'll be back soon." I said to Dan who looked confused.
"Give me the key." I said to the chauffeur and he did and came out of the driver's seat.
"Where are you going?" Dan asked.
"Somewhere." I replied and entered into the car and drove off.
I don't know what came over me, but all I know is that I'm standing at Blair's apartment door. I can't believe I'm here. It took me a few minutes to press the door bell and I waited for response but got none. I pressed the doorbell several times and there was no response which unexpectedly made me get scared and many horrible situations played in my head. My eyes flew to the lockpad to put in the passcode which she told me a year ago. Of all the things about her, thank God I at least remember that, it's her year of birth. My hand moved to input the passcode but stopped midway.
Oh God, I can't believe I'm doing this. Isn't this breaking into someone's house?...No, she's my wife so her home is my home, right?... Come on Ivan, you don't have time for this, what if she's in danger?
With that, I put in the passcode and went in. There was no one in the living room so I went into all the rooms and there's no sign of her. In panic, I dialed her number and she was on another call and I scoffed.
Well done, B. Just yesterday, you were crying so much and today, you're not even home, you're busy on another call. Turns out you've moved on with your life and I'm here worrying myself.
I cursed silently and left.
Shortly, I arrived at the eatery and wore my disguise before stepping out of the car or else this business meeting would turn into a fan meet.
"I sincerely apologize for being late." I said the moment I walked into the meeting room.
"No, problem, Mr Blake." The man replied and we began the meeting.
After the meeting, we went back to the office and Dan has been giving me a weird look since the meeting ended.
"I'm not your girlfriend, stop giving me that look." I said.
"You went to your wife's apartment, right?" Dan asked, smiling widely at me.
"No." I replied.
"You did." He said.
"No." I replied while going through a file and he kept staring at me.
"Don't you have work to do?" I asked.
"Have you settled with her?" He asked.
"Didn't I tell you that I didn't go to her apartment?" I said.
"I know you did." He smiled.
Oh, God, this guy is annoying.
"Fine! I did go there." I admitted and he grinned.
I explained everything to him and this annoying guy started laughing.
"If I speak now, you're definitely going to deny it, but it's the truth. You love your wife." He said and I slammed the file I was reading on the table.
"Do you want to die?" I asked.
"You didn't hesitate to go in when you didn't hear a response from her. And when you couldn't find her inside, you got worried and called her." He said.
"Shut up, that doesn't mean I love her. I would have done the same if it was someone else." I replied.
"You're in love with her, Ivan. I'm glad she left. At least now you'll realize your feelings her." He said, smiling.
"Dan." I called.
"Yes, bro." He replied.
"Get out." I said and he chuckled and left my office.
Why did I have to have such an annoying friend?
Sara entered into my office and presented a file to me. "I've adjusted the file, sir."
"Wait while I go through it." I said and began to go through it.
I raised my head to say something to her and noticed she was lost in thoughts while staring at something. I followed her line of sight and discovered she was staring at my wedding ring.
"Do you have a problem with my ring?" I asked and she jolted.
"No, sir. I just like the design." She replied and I nodded.
"Whoever will be your wife will definitely be the luckiest and happiest woman in the world." She smiled.
Well I already have a wife and she's definitely the most unhappy and unluckiest woman in the world.
"Sara, don't ever get married." I said and she looked shocked.
"Huh? I don't understand, sir." She said.
"One day, you'll understand." I replied and handed her the file.
"Do page two again." I added.
"Yes, sir." She said and left.
Minutes later, that rascal came in again.
"Why the hell did you tell Sara that?" Dan asked.
It's obvious she told him. Well I don't blame her though, to her, I sounded weird.
"I'm giving you the same advice." I replied.
"Seriously, what happened between you and your wife? What did you do to her?" He said.
"Nothing that you should know about." I replied and he shook his head.
"Let's go." He said and I raised a brow at him.
"Don't you remember you promised to grace today's shoot with your presence?" He said and I sighed.
We both arrived at the section of the company the shoot was holding and as expected they lost focus because of the distraction in their midst, me. The ladies swooned over me and Danielle left her place and came running to me. The ladies gave way for her, everyone thought she's my girlfriend.
"Hi, hon. I missed you." She said and attempted to kiss me but I looked away.
"Not now, I'm in a bad mood." I said.
"Oh, no, my hon is in a bad mood. Why?" She said and touched my face but I removed her hand.
"I don't know." I replied. Seriously, I really don't know why I've been in a bad mood and I can't figure it out.
"What happened?" She said softly.
"Nothing." I replied and she smiled.
"I'll help you fix your mood." She said and attempted to kiss me again and I looked away again.
"You can't fix it today." I replied and walked forward.
I turned to call Dan and found him making faces at Danielle. How childish? I looked at Danielle who looked both disappointed and angry.
