Devon smirked as he stared at the blade in his heart, about to walk away. But the woman stopped him.
"Wait, at least tell me why you hate my people?" "Your people killed my people. Shouldn't I have any reason to hate them?" he replied.
"Let's make a deal," she said. "You should know better than to make a deal with me," he replied. "I am yours forever if you promise to let them go," she said.
Dora stood there and watched the story unfold. Her eyes widened in realization. "Why did her voice sound like mine? Her hair is also blue. Is this the woman Devon loved?"
His eyes widened as his demon was very happy. "Mate, mate!" his demon shouted in anticipation. "Fine, but what makes you think I would like the idea of being with you?" he said. "Because I am your mate. You need me.
You can't survive without me, get it?" she said. He squinted his eyes and was about to talk, but immediately, the scene wiped off, bringing another scene.
*** "Wait for me, Fiona," Devon shouted as he sprinted after her. A broad smile stretched across his face as he caught up to her and lifted her off the ground, pressing a tender kiss to her soft blue hair.
"Do you think you can run away from me, my love?" he asked. "No matter where you go or how you look, I will always recognize you. You know how much I love you, so it would be impossible for me not to find you." Fiona teased him.
"Are you sure about that? How many days do you think it would take you to find me?" Devon replied without hesitation, "In a second," as he spun her around and gazed into her shining amber eyes.
"My love, you are so beautiful. I want to marry you, have kids with you, and watch our grandchildren grow up together." Fiona laughed and whispered, "Let's start making them already."
Dora watched those two with great disdain. Why couldn't she see this woman's face? Oh, so that was her name, "Fiona."
Her mouth twitched in disgust. She was so jealous of her. What did she mean by "mate"? The scene wiped off, bringing yet another one.
***
"That's her! The villagers shouted, "Kill her!" They were chasing her, but she thought she was invincible. She started running as far as her legs could take her.
She was scared to her bones. Why did they want to kill her? She heard voices in her head, and she was thinking she was crazy.
"Dora, Dora," the voice called, sounding so familiar. As she woke up, she couldn't help but cry. "What did you see?" he asked.
"They wanted to kill her, and me too, the villagers," she said in between her tears. He remembered; his face grew sad that day.
If he knew her coming into his life would cost her life, he would have sent her back the moment he laid eyes on her. This wasn't a dream but a fragment of their memories.
Now he was more confused about why she saw it. He gently withdrew from her embrace and planted a soft kiss on her hair, making Isadora's eyes widen, her heart beating rapidly fast.
Why did he do that? Whenever Fiona was feeling uncomfortable, Devon would give her a soft kiss on the hair or lips to make her feel better.
He wasn't sure if he was doing the right thing, but whether he was or wasn't, he was sure liked it. As he looked at her shocked expression, he leaned in and embraced her soft body fully.
He redrew from the embrace and looked at her softly,he noticed she looked shocked,he was confused as to why Isadora looked shocked. Didn't his attempt to comfort her work? He didn't mean to scare her.
"Did I do something wrong?" he asked. Isadora was snapped out of her thoughts when she heard his voice. She should be the one asking that. Why did he kiss her hair? "No, your highness," she stammered. "Why was he behaving nicely to her?" she wondered. Devon was also deep in thought. "That wasn't part of the act, or was it?" he reasoned.
But he wasn't pretending to be affectionate towards her; he really was, and all he tried to do was to comfort her. "You like her?" His demon voiced out.
"Shut up!" he internally scolded, and his demon kept quiet. Isadora's gentle voice broke him out of his thoughts. "Can I know more about,Fiona"she asked her heart beating fast. His warm eyes turned cold and she regretted what she asked immediately.
He looked deep into her amber eyes, trying to find the reason behind her question. "Why do you want to know?" he replied with a question.
"Because I'm jealous of that woman. So freaking jealous of her. She's the only reason why you can't love me," she wanted to say badly.
"I am just curious," she said. A smirk appeared on Devon's face before he spoke. "Curiosity kills the cat, and I know that you don't want to be dead, right?"
She gulped softly and was about to ask another question, but he stood up abruptly and spoke first. "I have some meetings to attend to. I will see you later," and he left, leaving the fragile woman in the chamber.
Devon stood outside the doors and spotted Francis waiting for him. "Your Highness, your attention is needed in the courtroom. The villagers are protesting."
