"Cian, how could you betray me? Is this how you repay my devotion to you?"
She shouted, violently tugging at Aria and raising her hand to strike her.
Aria nestled into my arms, feigning fragility.
"Cian, I'm scared. Your tiger of a wife is so fierce. You must have suffered all these years."
She stroked my cheek tenderly, as if feeling my pain.
I restrained the mischievous Aria and spoke coldly,
"Genevieve, I've always been upright and faithful. I would never cheat during our marriage. My heart died the moment you slept with Lorne. Let's end this."
Aria chimed in indignantly,
"I swear Cian only contacted me an hour ago."
"I haven't shared a bed or meals with him, let alone discussed intimate matters. When it comes to being cheap, who could compare to you?"
Aria scoffed, eyeing Genevieve and Lorne. Clearly, she had been keeping tabs on me and knew quite a bit.
"But if Cian is willing, I'll be devoted to him alone, body and soul. I can't bear to be apart."
Aria clung to my arm, making her solemn vow.
"Shut up!"
Genevieve glared at me furiously.
"Cian, is this how you stir up trouble? Hiring someone to put on an act? I'll tell you what, if you keep pushing me like this, don't blame me for getting serious. Who do you think will take care of you without me?"
She said, looking disdainfully at Aria, as if she had seen through everything.
Even now, Genevieve still didn't think she had done anything wrong, let alone hurt me.
It was all just me making a fuss, not listening to her.
From beginning to end, she never thought about my contributions to the Frost family, and even forgot who made her the powerful female CEO she is today.
I stopped Aria, who was about to argue on my behalf, and started gathering my files and documents.
Lorne snorted,
"Genevieve, some people don't know when they're well off. If you want to leave, then leave. But we'll have to check your things first. What if you're stealing company secrets?"
Genevieve gritted her teeth as she looked at me,
"Cian, you can go, but you're not taking a single piece of paper from this company. Let's see who wants you without the Frost Family?"
She waved her hand, calling someone over to check.
I glanced at the documents, let out a derisive laugh, and tossed them into the nearby shredder.
"Satisfied now?"
I picked up my only desk ornament, linked arms with Aria, and strode out of the company.
The sound of Genevieve's angry cursing came from behind,
"Cian, if you leave, don't come back. Even if you beg me on your knees, I won't take you back."
"Alright, alright, just ignore him. He's only trying to threaten you. He'll come crawling back soon enough."
As I got into Aria's car, she slapped a stack of documents into my hands.
I took a close look and froze on the spot.
Aria raised an eyebrow at me,
"Having second thoughts? Want me to take you back now?"
I let out a long sigh and shook my head.
I had fought tooth and nail to rescue the Frost Family from hell, but if she willingly wanted to walk back into the fire, why should I play the villain?
Even if I presented her with evidence, she'd only think I was framing Lorne.
Aria and I quickly reached an agreement. I would become the vice president of Aria's company, with 30% of the quarterly profits.
I chuckled and said,
"Isn't that too much? I used to only get a salary at Frost Family. Aren't you afraid this will make me greedy?"
Aria looked at me coyly,
"Cian, the greedier you are, the better. I hope you'll devour me too. Take me and the company into your belly."
I awkwardly looked at Aria, feeling a bit of a headache coming on.
In a moment of impulse, I couldn't bring myself to return to Thornton Estate. I thought of Aria, who had always wanted to collaborate with me, but now the situation had become a bit complicated.
At present, I really didn't want to think about relationships; I just wanted to focus on work.
Fortunately, Aria was professional and kept business separate from personal matters. Our collaboration had been quite pleasant so far.
I reached out to my old clients and had a chat with them.
Only then did I learn that they had already decided not to continue working with the Frost Group once their contract expired.
It turned out that during the year I was abroad developing new markets, Lorne had been representing the company in negotiations with them. Not only was his attitude arrogant, but he also tried to squeeze benefits out of them at every turn.
