Athan watched as the new transferee gobbled up the food he had given her. He found her amusing and shook his head before shifting his focus back to studying his system. From his past interactions with his lackeys and his new seatmate, he had gained karmic points:
[+17 Karmic Points]
[+8 Karmic Points]
[+38 Karmic Points]
He carefully analyzed the timing of when he received the karmic points and concluded that they had appeared when he interacted with others. This gave him valuable insight into how the system functioned. He still didn't fully understand the rules, but he was beginning to grasp the basic mechanics of how to utilize it: positive actions seemed to earn him karmic points.
As he browsed through the vast selection of items available in the system's shop, he couldn't help but salivate mentally. The seemingly large three million karmic points he possessed now felt insignificant compared to the sheer number of things he could buy.
Athan felt a surge of greed. Who wouldn't have ambition when faced with such an opportunity? But he quickly shook his head, reminding himself that haste makes waste. He needed to be careful and not make any impulsive decisions.
Lost in his thoughts, he was pulled back to reality by the sound of the bell ringing. Students returned to their seats, and he noticed his new seatmate tidying up her things. A few students had approached her out of curiosity, but they quickly retreated after a few words, wary of his presence. Athan felt a pang of guilt—he didn't want to disrupt her experience as a new transferee, but his presence seemed to be doing just that.
A new teacher entered the room and, after a brief introduction, began discussing what appeared to be a science subject. Athan, still preoccupied with his research, took out his phone and continued browsing.
Meanwhile, in another class, a boy suddenly woke up from a deep sleep. He looked groggily around the classroom, feeling an odd sense of familiarity. As his mind cleared from its sleepy haze, he was struck with shock.
'Wait… wasn't I dead? Didn't I die of rabies? Why am I sitting in a high school classroom from my past? Is this some kind of death-induced hallucination?'
Kevin pinched himself, and the pain was vivid. Shocked, he slapped himself a couple of times, but the pain remained real. The realization jolted him fully awake, and tears began streaming down his face.
He remembered it all. He had been on his way to his wedding, dressed in a pristine white tuxedo, when a stray dog bit him on the ankle. Wanting to avoid staining his outfit, he had simply shooed the dog away and rushed to the venue. Upon arriving at the cathedral and seeing his beloved waiting for him at the altar, he had suddenly collapsed, wracked with fever and spasms. He heard voices around him, mentioning high fever, and in that moment, he recalled the dog bite.
He had cursed his luck then. Finally, after all the hardships, he was about to marry one of his many cherished women. Managing all of his relationships had been a challenge, but he had done it. He had dreamed of this moment for so long, yet fate had snatched it away at the last second.
'Is it really a sin to be loved by so many beautiful women?' Kevin lamented internally. His thoughts were interrupted as a familiar voice called out to him.
"Oi, Kevin, why are you crying?" his childhood friend and seatmate, Fatty Mike, whispered.
Kevin turned his tear-streaked face towards him. "Fatty Mike! You're alive!" he exclaimed. He remember Fatty Mike dying because of one conflict in the suitors of one of his love ones, he became a meat shield.
A flying eraser smacked him square in the face before he could continue.
"Kevin Smith, you are truly fearless! It seems the Imperial Exams in three months do not concern you in the slightest! Stop disturbing the class and go face the wall at the back until the period ends!" the bald and stern teacher, Mr. Rob, bellowed.
Fatty Mike stifled a laugh as Kevin rubbed his face, feeling wronged. He knew from his memories that Baldy Rob was incredibly strict and had given him plenty of trouble in the past.
Still, he looked around the classroom and then back at Fatty Mike with newfound resolve. "Don't worry, brother. In this life, I will protect you with everything I have!" He pounded his chest confidently, trying to strike a heroic pose. Then, his eyes landed on her.
Seated at the front, just like in his past life, was his Eternal Love. Though he had loved many women, she had always been his favorite. In her high school uniform, she was a vision of nostalgia—a cold, untouchable fairy walking among mortals. She had been his first love, and he remembered the hardships they had endured together in his previous life.
Kevin clenched his fists in determination. The heavens had given him a second chance. This time, he would create new memories with all of his loved ones.
Rising to his full height, he exuded an aura of confidence and maturity. In his past life, he had become a powerful businessman, and his experience gave him a natural sense of authority that couldn't be faked.
He spread his arms slightly, as if basking in the attention of the entire classroom. Then, with one last lingering glance at his Eternal Love, he strutted towards the back of the class, where he was to serve his punishment.
Fatty Mike watched in disbelief. "What the heck happened to you, Kevin?" he muttered under his breath, feeling a strange sense of secondhand embarrassment.
Kevin, hands in his pockets, felt completely renewed. He promised himself that in this life, he would strive for greatness. Unlike before, where he had been forced to keep his harem a secret due to constant conflicts among his lovers, he would now embrace them openly.
He was certain now—he was a harem protagonist, just like the ones in anime and light novels. Why else would he have been reincarnated? The heavens must have chosen him.
Kevin grinned. He eagerly looked forward to the day he would embrace all of his loved ones once more.
