The Whispering Winds of Fate
Ling Tian's world was turned upside down as he plummeted through the air, his screams echoing through the market. But before he could hit the ground, a mysterious figure emerged from the shadows, their movements swift and agile. They caught Ling Tian in mid-air, their arms wrapping around him like a vice.
Zuo Qing's eyes narrowed, his gaze fixed on the mysterious figure. "Who are you?" he growled, his hand on the hilt of his sword. But the figure didn't respond, instead turning and disappearing into the crowd, Ling Tian still clutched in their arms.
Ling Tian's eyes were closed, his body shaking with fear. But as he suddenly vanished, he heard a soft voice whispering in his ear. "Shhh, Ling Tian, it's us, Xun Liu and Bo Liu."
Ling Tian's eyes slowly opened, and he found himself in a secluded clearing, surrounded by tall trees. Xun Liu and Bo Liu stood before him, their faces etched with concern.
"How did I get here?" Ling Tian asked, his voice laced with confusion.
"We saved your life from Zuo Qing," Xun Liu replied, a hint of a smile on his face. "By now, you would have been dead."
Ling Tian's eyes sparkled with gratitude, but he quickly looked away, feeling ashamed of being saved by two kids like him. He stood up, brushing the dirt off his clothes, and smiled shortly at them. "Thank you, I have to leave."
But Xun Liu and Bo Liu didn't let him go that easily. They took a step forward, their eyes shining with excitement. "Ling Tian, umm...well, mind if we follow you to where you're going?"
Ling Tian's face changed, his eyelid twitching in surprise. "What did you just say?" he asked, his voice laced with a hint of anger.
Xun Liu took a step back, his face pale. "Umm...We want to follow you."
Ling Tian's face twisted in a cute angry expression. "I walk alone, do everything alone, and I don't want help from you two, so you better step back."
Xun Liu and Bo Liu exchanged a concerned glance, but they didn't back down. They stepped back, their eyes never leaving Ling Tian's face.
For hours, Ling Tian walked through the forest, his thoughts still reeling from the encounter with Xun Liu and Bo Liu. But as the sun began to set, he found himself back at the same clearing where he had met the two brothers.
Xun Liu and Bo Liu were sitting on a big tree branch, staring at Ling Tian with mischievous grins. "Any help from us?" Xun Liu asked, his voice laced with amusement.
Ling Tian's face twisted in anger, and he let out a loud huff. "Nope!" he exclaimed, stomping his foot.
For days, Ling Tian walked through the forest, Xun Liu and Bo Liu always lurking in the shadows, watching over him. But Ling Tian didn't notice them, his mind focused on his destination.
As the sun began to set on the third day, Ling Tian finally saw a glimpse of his destination. A huge ancient serpent lay before him, its body coiled around the trunk of a massive tree. On the serpent's back sat an old man, his long white hair flowing in the wind. He wore a simple hut and long white clothes, with a shiny blue dragon symbol on his chest. The old man, Tianyang, gazed at Ling Tian with a discerning eye. As a late Spirit Formation cultivator with only 2,000 years left to reach the Void Refinement stage, he had seen his fair share of talented individuals. But there was something about Ling Tian that piqued his interest.
"What do you want from here?" Tianyang asked, his voice firm but curious.
Ling Tian's eyes glazed over, and he seemed to lose focus. Tianyang's eyes narrowed, wondering if the young man was somehow damaged. But then, Ling Tian's eyes snapped back into focus, and he looked around nervously.
"Hey, young man, I'm asking you a question!" Tianyang shouted, jumping off the serpent's back.
Ling Tian's senses returned, and he replied, "Oh, I'm Ling Tian, and I've lost my way. Please, can you help me find my way back?"
Tianyang's eyes sparkled with intrigue as he walked towards Ling Tian. The young man's movements changed, and he took a step back, his eyes darting around nervously.
"Stop right there!" Tianyang thundered, his hands clasped behind his back.
Ling Tian froze, his eyes fixed on Tianyang as the old man approached him.
"Ling Tian, right? I'm Tianyang, a Divine Beast cultivator," Tianyang said, his eyes gleaming with intensity.
He grasped Ling Tian's hands tightly, dragging him closer to the serpent. A ring on the serpent's forehead began to glow intensely, and Tianyang's eyes widened in surprise.
"You're the one I've been looking for," Tianyang exclaimed, his voice filled with wonder.
Ling Tian chuckled softly, a hint of mockery in his voice. "What? Me? Hahaha, oh, you've got the wrong guy."
Tianyang's smile faltered, and he replied, "This ring glowed when you came closer. It chooses you, Ling Tian."
Ling Tian's eyes sparkled with amusement, and he said, "Oh, forget it. The ring has made a big mistake by choosing someone weak like me. Over my dead body."
Tianyang's face darkened, and he said, "You, Ling Tian, are the last Divine Beast cultivator. It's destined to find you."
Ling Tian's laughter echoed through the forest, and he said, "To find who? Me? Tell me it's a joke."
As Ling Tian turned to leave, the ring glowed once more, unleashing a heavy pressure force that sent Ling Tian stumbling. His clothes were burnt to ashes, leaving him naked and exposed.
Ling Tian's face turned bright red with anger and embarrassment. "What's wrong with you?" he shouted.
Tianyang's eyes widened as he took in the sight of Ling Tian's naked form. But his gaze quickly fell upon the dragon mark on Ling Tian's wrist, and his eyes lit up with excitement.
"Stop right there, don't come any closer!" Ling Tian warned, his anger and embarrassment boiling over.
Tianyang's voice trembled with awe as he said, "You...you're the legendary Divine Beast cultivator!"Ling Tian chuckled, his voice laced with amusement. "Oh, forget it. First, you said I'm the last Divine Beast cultivator, now I'm the legendary Divine cultivator."
Tianyang's face remained solemn, his eyes gleaming with reverence. He bowed respectfully, his hands clasped together. "Millions of years ago, four powerful Divine Gods sacrificed their souls for us mortals to live on earth without the demon's bad deeds. Their souls formed a divine vessel imbued with the combined energy of the four Gods, capable of containing and amplifying the power of the Divine Beast or a powerful cultivator."
Ling Tian's curiosity was piqued, his eyes locked onto Tianyang's. "So, what happened next?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Tianyang's eyes seemed to gaze into the past, his voice filled with a sense of awe. "The three of them vanished, turning into ashes. Léi Wu, the one they entrusted with the divine vessel, left for over 20,000 years, wandering the land. And then, he vanished. No one knows where he is now, whether he still lives or has passed on. But the Chronicles of Eternity say that the one born with the dragon mark holds the key to the Divine Vessel, and its Divine Beast is a dragon."
Ling Tian's eyes widened, his gaze falling upon the dragon mark on his wrist. A mix of emotions swirled within him, but he pushed them aside, his voice laced with nonchalance. "Whatever. I'm done. Give me some clothes."
Tianyang's eyes narrowed, his gaze scanning their surroundings. "Someone is spying on us," he whispered, his voice low and urgent.
Ling Tian's eyes darted around, his senses on high alert. He quickly hid behind Tianyang, his heart pounding in anticipation. The air was thick with tension, the silence oppressive. They waited, frozen in time, for the mysterious figure to reveal themselves.
