Melody.
The silence of the room wrapped around me like a suffocating blanket, but I wasn't alone. Kael was there, on the other side of the stone wall. And the words I'd been holding back, the truth I needed to share with him, pulsed in my chest like an angry heartbeat. I pressed my ear to the vent, taking a slow breath to steady myself.
This was it. There was no turning back now.
"Kael," I whispered, my voice quiet but filled with the weight of everything that had happened. "Kael, you need to understand what I've seen. What I've... done."
There was a sharp intake of breath from the other side. His voice, low and guarded, came through the vent.
"What are you talking about, Melody?"
I swallowed hard. This was the part that would shatter him. The truth was a blade, and I was about to drive it deep.
