I looked up to see one of the guards had caught up to me.


I didn't answer him, I twisted his wrist and he screamed in pain but I turned back to use my other hand to cover his mouth and he was on the ground in seconds.


When I got out of the fort I could see Shannon was waiting for me with Adonis. But I almost couldn't recognize Adonis. He was still tall but he lost so much weight, he looked like a skeleton of himself, and the few dozen others were the same as him.


I thought about what Shannon said about the starving maid, now it all made sense.


Shannon ran towards me as soon as she saw me, she wanted to hug me then she stopped midway and checked if I was hurt.


I wasn't. But she didn't continue the hug since she realized we were surrounded by others. I put an arm around her to reassure her.
