Chapter 39

EMILY'S POV

I stood before the elders of the council, their eyes still flashing with disdain as they stared at me. That was about to change very soon.

My back was straight, as I looked at them with confidence. The room was filled with murmurs of disbelief as I handed them the documents of the investment funds, the forged contract, the newspaper article about Lucy and Regina's failed plan and other evidence of their crime.

Every detail of the contract and drama was documented so there would be no room for doubt.

"And these," I began, holding up the final set of documents, "Are the financial records proving the funds were stolen through offshore accounts owned by Lucy and her Regina."

The room fell silent. Their eyes bulged at the information. They had once sided with Lucy and her stepmother against me and with all this evidence it was now clear who was wrong and who was right.
