Chapter 51

CHRISTIAN'S POV

As James' car reversed out of the driveway with the boys, I turned to Emily. She was already ready for work in a dark lilac suit, her hair in a slick back bun.

She grabbed her suitcase and joined me outside, as I slumped into the passenger's seat of her car, my vision suddenly blurred.

The world dimmed for a second and a fever overtook me. I took a deep breath, pushing the pain back just as I did the whole morning.

I had woken up in a jolt, covered in sweat and feeling very lightheaded, but I had ignored it so I could be with the children and spend the morning with them.

Since the moment I left the hospital I had tried hard to hide the strain from my injuries when I came to visit Emily and now it was all catching up with me.

A lone drop of sweat rolled down my face as I gripped the seat in pain. I slumped back into the chair, the road in front of me turning into a blur as my heart pounded in my chest.
