Chapter 68

EMILY'S POV

I left Christian to rest in his tent and as I walked through the camp, my heart has finally stopped pounding.

He was okay and now I could breathe. I stared in the distance at the Ice Hill Camp, my thoughts running wild. What was their next plan?

I was lost in thought when the Yellow Bird pack Alpha returned, his expression hopeful.

“You are right, Alpha Emily. Our main water source has been infected.” He announced.

I let out a deep exhale as I followed him back to the water tank. A few soldiers stood around the tank, their expression tight as they stared down into the water.

Even though I was relieved about the discovery, the thought still haunted me. How many more lives would have been lost if we hadn’t caught it in time?

They all looked up, their gaze trained on me expectantly. I bit my lip, a little flustered from the sudden attention.

“We have to abandon this source and find an alternative,” I said, meeting their gaze.
