Anita’s Pov
As the door closed behind Amara, silence settled over the reception room, heavy yet strangely liberating. I noticed Alpha Hades rubbing his temples, a look of weary frustration etched into his face. The sight was oddly satisfying. Despite his usual calm and unshakeable demeanor, it seemed even he wasn’t immune to the exhaustion of dealing with someone like Amara.
I bit back a laugh, amused by his visible irritation. I guess not all men are unreasonable, unlike that cheap husband of mine.
But the thought must have lingered too long on my face because suddenly, I let out a soft chuckle that echoed through the quiet room. Alpha Hades’s head snapped up, and his gaze fixed on me, his brows raised in surprise.
“What’s so funny?” he asked, his voice carrying an edge of curiosity mixed with genuine intrigue.
“Oh… nothing,” I stammered, waving my hand dismissively as I tried to hide my smile. “I was just… lost in thought.”
