Anita’s POV
The next morning, I walked into the Residence Office, my heart pounding against my chest. The hum of the ongoing activities surrounded me—low voices, the clatter of keyboards, the shuffle of papers—but it did nothing to calm my nerves. The tension in my shoulders was unbearable as I glanced around the room.
I scanned the space for my mate, Hades, my fingers tightening around the strap of my bag. But there was no sign of him. Where is he?
I frowned, chewing the inside of my cheek as doubt crept into my mind. Could he be playing some kind of game with me? My stomach twisted at the thought. ‘No, that’s not like him. He said he would help. He wouldn’t go back on his word… would he?’
My thoughts swirled in a chaotic storm until I couldn’t take it any longer. Reaching into my bag, I pulled out my phone, ready to call him. Just as I unlocked the screen, a voice interrupted me.
“Excuse me,” someone said, their tone polite but firm.
